Silver antenna when everything else is black?

Why they would install a silver antenna on a vehicle where everything else is black baffles me? Their design team needs a good punch in the throat. I did not want to sacrifice reception and I don't care much for the look of the rubber stubbies. I am sure there are some out there that look good but reception is important to me so I went with the same antenna, 3" shorter, but in black. Looks much better

I agree that silver antenna was an eyesore. I went with this one and haven’t noticed a loss in reception.

I like it and ended up buying the same brand, just a little shorter.

It looks much better in black and with the one that I picked up, the reception is still good (now it's just a little below the roof line).

I used to have a 24" AntennaX CB style antenna on my 2009 and 2012 JK's, but I forgot to remove it when I sold the 2012 , so I ended up purchasing the same 31" AntennaMastsRus antenna as the OP.

The black antenna is definitely a better fit than the silver, particularly on a black Jeep.

I totally agree, however I went with a 12 inch version of the same mast you have. I almost always listen to SiriusXM (which does not use this AM/FM antenna) and the few times I have listened to FM, I noticed no falloff in reception.

I have that shorter black one too and it works great. On my JKs and now the JL, I always take them (and the mufflers) off and paint them black. High heat Rustoleum for the muffler and satin black Rustoleum for the antenna. Super cheap easy mods to reduce eye sore.

Cause FCA doesn't care as long as you make the initial purchase. The Quadratec black stubby (https://www.quadratec.com/p/quadratec/16-stubby-antenna-jeep-wrangler-jk-jl) was the very first purchase I made for the JL. Pulls stations and looks great.

That looks like the same one that I purchased. Mine is 21". I was able to tune in a fairly weak AM station, then removed my original OEM antenna and replaced it with the shorter one (in black). What I did notice was the volume was slightly decreased which to me meant the signal was a little weaker. This was very acceptable since I really don't listen to AM and if I do, it still gets fairly decent reception. It doesn't appear that any FM signal was lost, and obviously has NO effect on XM.

The looks alone of a shorter antenna made it worth it and the fact that it looks OEM and black sealed the deal.
