I 100% dont recommend these. They will dent the inner door jamb. A local company had a nice set of these and used my jeep to show them off...... even though they spread the load it still left a nice dent. Still Sour about it. I was the " model" for the step and i only weight 170lbs.. they gave me the sets for using my jeep for the pictures the things went straight to the trash canHi Andi:
I appreciate that your inquiry regards step stools. If I may, let me take a step back to examine why you might need one: that obviously being the sunshade you describe getting in the way of interior "standing seat" closure..
A couple of months ago I wrote up a hack on how to get the Bestop retractable Sunshade of the JK to work on the JL. (Bestop has yet to make a retractable sunshade for the JL,)

Another suggestion along the step stool approach might be closing the top from outside using one of these door hinge steps.

Best of luck!
Good to know, thank you!I 100% dont recommend these. They will dent the inner door jamb. I have and I can do that, but I'm 53 years old and not as young as I used to be so it makes me a little nervous.Just to chime in with a money saving suggestion, have you thought of just hopping up and standing on the door sill to open/finish pulling the top closed?
That's fair, was just surprised that nobody mentioned it yet so figured I'd throw it out there!I have and I can do that, but I'm 53 years old and not as young as I used to be so it makes me a little nervous.
I've never dented a thing using these...then again, they're not all alike.I 100% dont recommend these. They will dent the inner door jamb. I also have this step, but in pink. Well it was red, but the years has faded it to pink. These work well. We had it in our Motorhome.I don't carry it, but I have one for washing etc. It folds flat and is sturdy.

That’s right. Your smart. Go to your local 4x4 shop and check with them on a safe remedy. We don’t need you getting injured or anyone else.I have and I can do that, but I'm 53 years old and not as young as I used to be so it makes me a little nervous.
Brilliant! ?I don't know if it's tall for you, but I actually used a milk crate for a while and it came in very handy carrying stuff to and from my jeep, excellent handles and easy to strap down. The best part, it made for a great little stool to sit on if you forget your chair, better than nothing. Come on! Am I the only one who sees how useful a milk crate is in a jeep?

Thanks! After mulling about it over the weekend just putting the front shade up is probably what I will do. Most of the time it's either just me or me and my son in the Jeep. My husband will ride with us occasionally but usually those are short trips and my son wouldn't mind not having it for those.I have a soft top as well and I run most of the summer here in North Texas with the top down. When it gets a little warmer I'll put the front section of the bikini top on. It does make latching the soft top a little more difficult, but still doable. Personally I don't have a back seat, I removed mine. I never have anybody in the Jeep but me. My wife is 5'3" and she pretty much never rides around with me. So no need for four seats when I barely need two.
My recommendation to you is to get a two-piece bikini top for your JLUR, only install the front one. Obviously If you often have people in the backseat, not such a viable idea, but if it's just you and a co-pilot in the front, this works out well because you can still climb into the back seat and fold the top up most of the way. Once you get the top up you can actually hang out the side of the driver side and pull on that leftmost rod to get the top all the way down before you latch it.

You can step on the left side of the seat here...

I'm 6'5" and I don't have mine installed yet because it does limit my headroom in my JLUD, but if you want a good inexpensive quality two-piece bikini top, might I recommend Rough Country:

Under hundred bucks and it's held up for me the last 2 years. I bought mine through a local off-roading store, but I'm pretty sure you can get them on Amazon if you want next day shipping.
Good Luck!
