Hello all,

I am currently running a rock krawler 2.5" adventure on my 23 JLU willys with the Falcon 2.1 shocks set up on soft. (I purchased before the rock krawler set up) and I find the jeep rides super harsh (as expected) What shocks are you all running with this set up? Currently running 35x12.5X17 BFGoodrich KO2 load range E (not helping the ride for sure) at 28 PSI. I know roughness of ride is subjective, but I would like it a little smoother around town.

If you consider Bilstein at all, I'd recommend the 5160s over the 5100s.

I’ve had 5100’s on MC coils and Teraflex coils. I definitely won’t run them by choice on any suspension based on how they ride everyday. I know, not RK specific, but hopefully it helps narrow it down a little.

Very helpful. That was one of the shocks they recommended. I had them on my JK around 8 years ago with rock krawlers 2.5 springs, so its hard to remember how they rode. All I really remember about them is they corroded like crazy and the seals blew at like 20k miles.

Another to consider in the $1k/set range may be the Fox 2.5 IFPs you can get from JKS.

Fox pairs the best with Rock Krawler springs imo, if you’re not using their shocks which as you would expect, pair the best…..

The Fox IFPs are on the stiffer side though, so of the choices you listed, definitely the RK RRDs.

I’m a little off put by the maintenance of the rock krawler rrd shocks compared to other off the shelf shocks. The more I search on this the more I’m really leaning towards accutune fox 2.0 remote resi custom tuned for the rock krawler springs… I have an email into them so I will report back. Thanks all for the input.

The new IFP version of the RRD shocks are much better. Need to be serviced with nitrogen every 12 months or so.

That’s good to hear. For 500 ish more dollars would the tuned foxes be a better fit long term? I know the rk are rebuildable as well., or do you think I would be happy with the rock krawler shocks?

I just put the Accutune fox 2.0 resi shocks on my jeep with 3.5in RK springs. I had Bilstein 5100s before. I can definitely say there is an improvement in ride quality from the fox shocks

Which tune did you end up with? Or were they custom tuned beyond their stock 3 tuning levels?

I was going to go with the Fox DSCs until RK offered to do the IFP conversion on my RRDs for cost (about $50/shock). I don’t see any reason to spend the money now.

Do you run the Falcon 2.1's on the Soft/Cold setting or Performance? I've got a shiny new set to replace my Rubicon XR shocks. I've had Fox 2.0 in the past, I liked them but they all leaked and just don't have a great lifespan in my experience. I got the Falcons for the same price knowing they're firmer. I liked my firm Mojave ride so should be ok for me. I considered the RK shocks but in Canada the price was too high. 5100's are a step backwards and ppl say the ride rough.
