My 2021 jeep is currently at the dealership for the FIFTH time, having the axel locker system repaired/serviced. The time before this was just a month ago. I’m not sure what to think or do about it. I know it’s a common problem, however, is it a common problem for it to need to be serviced over & over? The dealership tell me the sensors have been replaced each time, with 5 sensors being replaced just a month ago & yet here I am again with it back being serviced.

It's beginning to sound like you have a different problem.

My front locker coil (actuator) had an internal short that would work for a while, then quit. It was intermittent for a while. Finally, it gave up completely. I thought it was the sensor, and bought a Z-Automotive sensor bypass. Didn't do anything, of course. I changed the harness from the firewall to the front locker. No help. I changed the passthrough connector on the axle housing. No help. Further investigation revealed the real cause. My front locker has been in-op for almost 2 years, now. Parts to fix it weren't available to be purchased from Jeep nor Dana.

I have actually put together the parts to fix it using a Bronco Dana 44 actuator and was ready to do this. However, it would not have a position sensor and would need a work around for that. Since I may end up selling my rig in the not so distant future, I would prefer to have it OEM in the diff function/indications.

Looks like now, Mopar lists the parts that you can purchase the differential assembly, consisting of the mechanical differential, bearings, coil (actuator), etc. (basically all the guts minus the ring and pinion). I just ordered it. I believe the parts are the new 2022 and later sensor/actuator. Not even positive it will have what I need. We'll see....if it actually ever comes (special order/backorder/etc). Nobody seems to have ever ordered it yet except me.

Pot your sensors. If the problem occurs again you have a different issue.

Could be the actuator as @roaniecowpony said. Mine is in the shop because its lockers failed. Weirdly for me I go no "service locker" or any other errors this second time, they just simply didn't work. Wound up being failed acutator(s).

BE FOREWARNED THOUGH! The actuators are on long back-order. My Jeep has been in the shop for 43 days now (Fuck you Mike Shaw Jeep of Greeley CO for not giving me a loaner, putting it back together enough that I could at least drive it while waiting for parts, or giving me any information that I didn't find out on my own.) It took me involving @JeepCares to get any help, and luckily they were able to expedite the part to arrive sometime this week - apparently the part wouldn't have arrived until September if they hadn't expedited the part.

Check for broken wires in the harness between the axle and the chassis. We had wires broken in both front and rear harnesses of the Boss Lady’s Mall Crawler.

Being just in greeley and close to foco, for your next repair try the foco jeep dealer. They gave me a loaner (ram truck) for my jeep when it went in for corrosion repair, I didn't ask for one and I didn't buy the jeep from them. Just a thought.

Yeah, this was kind of my "Last Chance" with Mike Shaw since they're the dealer I bought from etc.

The original fix was to replace the entire axle. Had it done on my ‘20 Mojave at 9K miles.

There are no actuators available separately, is my understanding. Up until recently, the first level assembly available that included the locker actuator, was the entire axle assembly, flange to flange.

Recently, Mopar made this assembly available 68674938AA CASE KIT-DIFFERENTIAL. This is the lowest level they list an assembly with the actuator. It appears that it is the 2021 and later sensor configuration, since it matches as fitting those years as well as the 2018 up. This assembly includes the differential, actuator, the actuator plate, sensor, bearings, etc. Basically, everything except the axles, ring and pinion and the pinion parts .

We'll see if it really is available.

This is likely what I was told is on back-order until September. I will ask whenever my Jeep actually is done in case it helps you or anyone else.

Thanks for your responses. I am beginning to think it must be something else as @roaniecowpony said. I dropped the jeep off last Monday & have not heard any update since. I did open a case with jeep. Beginning to think I may have a lemon….

This is now what they are planning on doing. They don’t know if it will work, just going to try it. Now I’m waiting for the parts to come in.

Just for clarity...
If you're having problems with your axel, the only solution is more practice at the ice skating rink...
If it's problems with your axle, a good mechanic comes in handy.

Sorry, I just couldn't resist! 😆😉

I always tell people when I make a spelling mistake that I’m English & that’s how they spell it there! 🤣🤣 But to be honest I have no idea how it’s spelt there. (I am English though) You would not want to see me practice at the ice skating rink, I’d end up in hospital!! You gave me a laugh though!
