I might have stepped into it this time.... After vacuuming under the drivers seat I knocked the wires off the seat belt connector. I unbolted the seat and tried like heck to get the wires back in the male connector but couldn’t (what a bugger) anyway I cut the female plug and soldered the wires. Then my dash lit up like a Christmas tree, Service Air Bag, Drivers Seat belt not Fastened, Auto park disabled, stop start unavailable (I like the last 2). Ive tried to clear the code but No luck (likely not fixed).

I don’t want to take it to the stealership. I’d like to get the steering TSB but I won’t get back without them fixing it, $$$$$, they take forever and no loaner.

I’m thinking just cut the lead wires again, solder the leads to each other and clear the code. Will that close it? I don’t want to set off the air bag either.... Suggestions?

You probably shouldn't have messed with it. Disconnect the battery and repair the wires properly, that should clear things up.

I pulled the wires out of the connector when I was removing my seat and the airbag light came on on the dash. I ordered the pins from Mouser and repaired the connector and the airbag light went out.

Did you consider a different type of connector all together? I wasn’t impressed with the stock FCA, shouldn’t soldering directly work?

I am not an engineer. It seems like soldering the wires directly would work. I did think of using a Deutsch DTM Series or a Weather pack two position connector, however I wanted to keep it original.

Put down your tools and go find a reputable service repair shop that specializes in Wranglers if you don’t trust the dealer.

Wranglers are no different from any other vehicle in this regard.

if you’re okay with disabling the drivers seat belt auto tensioner and airbag, go ahead and unplug it. Or, you can let the vehicle do what it is supposed to do.

Well.... I disconnected the battery, soldered the wires, but the light is still on. Should it clear on its own, I tried with an Innova also. I’m thinking the buckle housing might need replaced. Is there a test for this?

Thanks

Well... If anyone is interested I finally got the parts for the seat belt and the harness under the seat. I disconnected the neutral wires from the battery, pulled out the seat, replace the parts and all is working fine no more error codes
