Serpentine or pully ?

My willys just started chirping when accelerating. Ideling it doesnt chirp. It sounds like its coming from very front down by the drive system. After driving for a while over 45-55 it kind of faints or goes away.

Chirp frequency? engine speed, wheel speed or drive shaft speed?

Any speed, as long as foot is on accelerator its chirping. More acceleration the more constant

Possible idler pulley. Inspect serpentine belt. Look for glazing or uneven wear and "drag" marks, both sides. Mileage?

I had a very similar situation. It only happened in the cold, however. Once it got warm, the chirp went away. They had replaced serpentine under warranty and idler pulley as well. It helped but didn’t fix it. My local dealer went all in on figuring it out. Turns out some debris had gotten lodged between the water pump and engine and quasi molded onto the engine. It was pushing between the two. They removed the debris, replaced water pump, and it’s been good to go ever since.

Thankyou, I ran that across the mechanic while its in shop. They did have to order serpentine and idler pully tensioner.

UPDATE….. dealer replaced a/c belt and pully tensioner, still chirped. Keep in mind this is a honda dealership working on a jeep, long story short , their sending to jeep in the morning, so basically they dont know what the .uck there doing. Note to self, dont ever buy a dodge product from a honda dealership. So irritated.

My first JK, 2013, with the 3.6 sand in the engine option, turned into a lemon because of engine noise, chirping. 12 visits to dealer, they spent $12,000 (all warranty) replacing every front end component, pS, AC, ALT, all pulleys, bearings, turned out to be last item replaced, water pump.

Got that right.. Honda sent it to jeep cuz they couldnt figure it out. Jeep said needs serp and tensioners. Honda replaced a/c belt

Update…. Tensioners and serp belt was replaced . Picked up vehicle and still faintly does it when you give it gas or cruising then get on it and does it. Lost for words and confused.

Was it driven in the sand ? Mine wasnt .
