Long story short, I just had my first vehicle break in. Someone found a way to unlock it outside of my apartment and steal thousands of dollars of stuff. I was preparing for a move the next morning and I live in a very safe area, well, I suppose not so safe anymore. In hindsight it was dumb to leave it loaded up overnight. They even stole the duck my girlfriend gave me...

I'm looking at getting the Tuffy console safe, but do y'all have any other recommendations for security upgrades? Are there any locking Quick Fist style clamps? They ripped off all the gear from JCR tailgate panel. I'm just trying to make it as difficult as possible for any future thieves. Thanks!

I don’t live in what most consider as a safe area. I have a hood lock gas cap lock and wheel locks. I have the keyed wheel lock on the spare for visibility. I keep it religiously empty and it still gets broken into with the soft top on. I do keep the doors locked. I have just gotten used to keeping it empty. I don’t leave the doors off like one of my neighbors. Rather not have people sleeping in it.

If they wany your shit they will get it! There is nothing that will stop them other than parking it in a locked garage. The more things you install to stop them the more things that will be broken in the process of the theft.

I leave mine unlocked with nothing of real value in it.

It’s unfortunate that it’s come to that but you’re probably right. Thieves suck

Diabolical inc slipstream. Will make it more difficult to steal from the rear of the Jeep.
Thanks for the recommendation. I really like it, but I don’t know if I could make it work with two dogs.

Sorry to hear of the break in, as a fellow Jeeper from SA I can say this city is getting worse for crime like this. I'm able to keep my Jeep in my garage at night, but I also purposely don't carry anything of any value in it when I'm out and about. I ordered a faraday bag for my fob as well. If you have a Tazer you can set the hood up to be alarmed. As others have said, not a lot you can do sometimes if they really want to get in.

I’ll have to look into the faraday bag. Yeah, this city has gone way down hill. I’m in the Pearl, and the amount of homeless and tweakers has exploded down here. I had a meth head try to break into my Jeep with me in it…

I had my truck broken into…stole some ski gloves, and a few odds and ends. Nothing really.

the bigger inconvenience was my truck was full of snow, I had to spend $200 getting the window replaced, they scratched up and damaged the key lock screwing around with that and then I had to get the window tinted.

incredibly frustrating and annoying

I was going to recommend the Tuffy security enclosure or the Diabolical Slipstream but both of those are made secure from the tailgate being locked. If they broke into the jeep that means the tailgate would be unlocked after they got in and both rendered useless. I have the Tuffy now because we run naked in the summer and the tailgate lock keeps all of our stuff secure while in and out running around. We have only stayed overnight while naked once and I was a nervous wreck. I have the JL Tazer so I have the hood alarm activated but I still parked the jeep pointing right at our hotel window so the lights would flash if anyone unlocked anything, didn't sleep worth a crap still. I am switching to the Diabolical since I am adding the Trektop Ultra top but it won't be any more secure than what I have (switching for other reasons). We keep it in garage at home.
If a thief has the time and the opportunity, they will get inside. Having a lock box inside that's keyed should protect money and firearms but I can't imagine leaving either in there overnight.

Only thing I can think of that would work would be to chain a rabid dog or raccoon in there. But that presents a whole new set of problems. Thieves belong under the dirt, rotting.

^^^^Say's the guy from New Jersey. Thanks for the laugh.
Thieves suck and should be pushing daisies as a full time job. Happy to read you are moving away from it. Best of luck!
Lots of daisies!
