Have a buddy that his seat is lowering over time. You can use the handle to pick it back up but still goes down eventually. Mine is all the way down so I can't replicate it. Anyone have this happening asking for a vertically challenged friend.

I'll sometimes bump the seat height adjustment lever just enough, when exiting, to cause the illusion of the seat lowering on its own over time. Every vehicle I've owned that used the same manual lever design did the same thing. It was just a consequence of my left leg having to brush against them due to the height of the vehicles. This is a known issue that's been mentioned by other owners on this forum.

I've long since made peace with the need to occasionally jack the seat back up a bit. It's no factor.

Ask your short friend if that's actually what's happening with his Jeep. ;)

I got tired of that as well. Read somewhere to just remove the stupid handle, so I jacked the seat up where I wanted it, removed the small trim cover (which just pulls loose held on by plastic clips), and unscrewed that handle. I kept it in the Jeep for a month to make sure that worked before tossing it in the Removed from Jeep box on the shelf.

That's a good idea, and also my backup plan. I do find myself fine-tuning the seat height according to what I'm wearing (i.e., the changing seasons), so I've kept the height adjustment lever in situ for now.

It's a bloody nuisance, every time they come out with a new generation, they screw up something basic.

It's 'normal'...Just one of those 'it's a Jeep thing' and the one on my '20 JLR does the same. I like the seat fully back and adjust the height for best off-road visibility, just remember to duck when getting in/out 🤣

Warning: redneck engineering

Since I previously needed a cushion for hard metal bleachers at kid's school sports stuff, I put a Purple brand cushion in each vehicle. I sit higher, and don't love that, but it's one way of dealing with a low seat. Inexpensive spring style folding seat cushion things are great for airflow, and surely add a little boost. I could probably use some of those seat slammers with this setup as I sit a little too high.

Manual seats/ locks/ windows, so I may be spared from what you guys are describing.

I usually hit mine getting out so after awhile it just drops so if he slides out he hitting the lever on the side everytime and it will slowly drop each time.

My seat self lowers itself whenever I move the seat up to fold the backrest forward. Having a 2 door, this happens a lot. I keep my NOCO 10 Genius Battery Tender behind my driver's side seat and since I use it pretty often, I'm regularly adjusting the seat.

It's almost muscle memory in raising the seat. No big deal.

Is this kind of like complaining about pushing the ESS disable pushbutton? As long as I can adjust it when necessay, I 'assjust' it.

My comfort level is almost the highest setting. This means I pump the handle and raise the seat quite a bit. For me, it really is no issue.

However, this forum clearly is about speaking up on what bugs you. I must be a low-maintenance dude who has way more different things on my nag list. Like the fact that I need to use my NOCO 10 as much as I do.

If I could just come around to routinely disabling the ESS, where maybe I'd not need to externally charge both batteries as often. But then again, I do like the silence at stop lights, and playing the 7-second rule at keeping the engine running or not.

Having my seat in the most comfortable position really helps in playing this ESS game. And I routinely play this way more than the six-cycle limit constraint as forced with other non-AUX or bypassed battery solutions on nearly every one of my daily drives.

So running the ESS as intended requires so much extra effort on my part is by far my biggest pet-peeve. Pumping the seat handle is so low on my JL nag list.

But to agree with the premise of this thread, yes I routinely need to manipulate my seat pump handle very frequently.

Wow did not know it was this wide spread of an issue. I would have never thought exiting would have caused this. It's usually my in-laws Honda that trys to crush me when I get in with its dang electric memory seats i hate. The reasoning is sound so now I just need to tell him grow 6 inches or its a Jeep thing lol.

What if you get into an accident where you’re trapped inside your Jeep and the only way to get unstuck is to lower the seat a couple inches, so you reach for the lever only to find out you removed it earlier?

Was also having a problem of unknowingly bumping the lever and inadvertently lowering the seat. Totally fixed that by using the A-pillar grab handle to consciously lift my ass higher when getting in and out, and now I only smack my head into the rollbar trying to avoid it. But hey, at least my one arm is getting swole!

Gotta pick your battles, I guess 🤬

It happens so slowly and takes so long that I don’t even realize I’m sitting a few inches lower. Feels like a new Jeep every time I jack it back up once in a blue moon
