Not sure if the surface needs a protector. I suspect my 2008 JK's "Mygig" screen isn't the same surface but its' fingered at least once a week these days but in years past, every day. Its still like new.

I should think the surface of the infotainment systems in the JL's and JT's are good without a screen protector. Can't hurt to put one on, unless some brands might dull the sensitivity of using the screen?

Not sure which one I bought. It was a generic one off Amazon back in 2020. It's the tempered glass type like the one you posted. I got it because I figured the touch screen would take a beating with covid and everyone going overboard with hand sanitizer. That's around the time everyone was complaining about screen delamination. I don't hear about that much anymore. I think it was the chemicals in hand sanitizers. It does get rid of the matt look and there can be some glare with the top off... maybe?

Mine has been on there for over 30k miles and still looks great as does the radio. I like not having to worry about muddy or dusty hands scratching the screen.

I bought this one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07C9GL34Q/

It's holding up fine. Most of these are all the same product from the same Chinese factory, just distributed by different names on Amazon. I go through a ton of these for my cameras and I never worry about one brand over the other. They're all basically the same.

And it definitely helps. I've damaged a few on my cameras in the field and it's a heckuva lot better to just replace a $15 screen protector rather than a gouged screen.

And after my previous dog put a giant scratch in my JK's (unprotected) screen, putting a protector on the JL's was one of the first things I did.

Go Spigen, the Mopar one is ?, I had Mopar flimsy protector before, meh

I got the Spigen this time, these radios should have been shipped with a protector installed from the factory considering they cost upwards of $1,000
Mine has been on for over a year with 0 issues. Plus its made by Mopar so if any other covers react with the screen material and damage your screen you may be out of luck.

People without screen protectors have had issues with the screen, and Jeep told them to take a hike, also you can easily just remove the protector if there is an issue before going to the dealership.

I never had a problem with the Mopar but it was just a thin flimsy thing, vs the Spigen which is rigid.

I personally think the Uconnect is a useless piece of expensive junk, I would prefer there was not a huge fragile screen in the middle of the dashboard of a rugged vehicle, a simple dumb radio would suffice with common connectors to phones or other devices.

But FCA makes a good chunk of money on this tech junk.

One of the biggest problems in modem vehicles is these huge expensive screens or their functionality or lack thereof.

Nothing like driving down the road with a huge screen displaying redundant and irrelevant information, and that's if it's even correct, a lot of times the information on the radio screen wrong, especially engine or oil temperature in the offroad pages, which take forever to load, and which seems to require an internet connection to display on-board vehicle information.

I went with the one linked by the OP and it has worked fine. It was on sale last year when I got it so only about $10. I suspect most any of these would work fine, but some of the cheap ones had bad reviews for discoloration over time and such.

Installed fhe Spiegen screen protector today. Followed the instructions but must've done something wrong. I was able to remove all of the bigger bubbles but I have many smaller bubbles that I am unable remove. Suggestions? Can I remove the film and try re-applying?
