My JLU Rubicon w/ 6spd manual is a week or two from arrival at my dealer. I like to do some of the basic wrenching myself -- oil / filter changes, brake pads & rotors, etc. Is the JL mostly metric, or do I need a mix of both tools?

Thanks

Just ask @cosine he knows!
Some have posted metric sizes for oil changes but SAE (1/2" for the drain plug, 15/16" for the filter cap nut) are a much better fit, w/ no slop. But like other Jeep products there is a mix of both, so I would get two basic sets if I were you, and congrats on your upcoming JL!

How many points are your metric sockets? Manual calls for metric, and my Tekton 6 point sockets fit with no slop.

Anyway, always good to have both, so sound advice! For the money, I’m a big fan of this dual set: TEKTON 1/2-Inch Drive Socket Set, Inch/Metric, 6-Point, 3/8-Inch - 1-5/16-Inch, 10 mm - 32 mm, 84-Piece | 13203 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01LYZ2IJ5/

I have both 12pt and 6 pt in metric and SAE sets, if you take a 6pt SAE vs a 6pt metric on those oil change parts you should notice a pretty significant difference there. But 6pt is definitely better vs 12pts :)

Which 6pt is the better fit on the drain plug?

Thank you very much! I have a Tekton torque wrench and super happy with that.
