Wishful thinking, wouldn't it be nice if this FCA affiliated CC has a dealer fee negotiated lower because of the affiliation. Thus allowing dealers to accept higher down payments with the use of this specific card.

Currently in JB status and now debating if I should apply for this card. Hmmmmm

Great information on FCA card.

Has anyone purchased from koons and used credit card for downpayment? I will likely be picking up my jeep late this month. Most of my free cash is in investment or online savings accounts and if unable to use credit card I need to move cash to on-hand. I'm curious to how much if at all I would be able to put down on cc?

I am in the same boat actually! Ordered from Koons and plan on paying a substantial down payment with my credit card otherwise I would have to move some money around. Hopefully somebody knows the answer to this for Koons

“S” & JD, why aren’t you calling Koons ( or whoever your dealer is ) and asking them this question? They are the only source for answering this question for you.

Since I don’t have anything nice to say about this situation, I am not saying another word.

The out of town dealer I bought my JLU from has a $2k limit on credit card charges. I explained that I wanted to earns points on the FCA card and offered to pay their processing fee if I could charge more. They agreed for 2.5% and even worked with me to max the card out twice. I'm still 2 weeks out from getting the statement to see if everything worked as planned.

In the mean time, I checked in with a local dealer regarding the availability of tube doors for when my rewards are available. They said they get their tube doors from Quadratec. They said that I can purchase anything I want from Quadratec, through them, using my rewards or earning rewards. Glad I just got a new Quadratec catalog.

Neither the dealer I purchased from nor the local dealer seems to have processed the double rewards yet, so it will be interesting to see how that works out.

Just curious if you placed the max down payment got the rewards paid the card off then purchased your extra parts and doubled up on rewards. I see that you get double rewards by using them at a dealer so that’s 10% instead of 5 if I’m right

Rewards aren't available until the monthly statement is processed. I'm still waiting for my first statement.

Did you ever get your statement? Did the rewards show up?

Credit cards are ok. But the Catch is if you don't pay it off the interest is were the Bank WINS.

Again don't just pay the minimum payment again they WIN. Its a personal choice just to pay cash. Upgrades and credit is a revolving door after charging 10K most people will take 3-4 years to pay it off and some never do because upgrades.

The rush for MODS will cost you more than to wait it out and pay as you go.

Its a choice PAY NOW OR PAY LATER

We just bought a new Raptor a month or so ago and put $10 k down using our platinum card. We then turned around and paid it off. We use it just for the points we get.

But this may not be a bad deal to use when doing the down payment to order. I will look into it

Yes, everything worked as expected.
Awesome! Did you put the full amount on your card? I’m about to apply and that’s my plan. I was wondering if they did something different with massive purchases on the card. Sounds like it’s a pretty good free 8% or so!

Thanks for the non-solicited lecture.

I also put my down payment on my CC and I got 2% cash back. So I do agree with the OP, free money is great money!

Almost the full amount. I maxed out the card once, then the next day xferred funds to pay it off. The bank waited 1 week to make sure the funds cleared. When I picked up the jeep, they held a check for the rest of the payment until I could charge the rest. I don't know if all dealers will do that, but small town Iowa will. It took a week and a day before I could max the card again. Then, even though I got the card in early April, it took until late May for the first statement to get the rewards.

To use the rewards, the dealer calls the card rewards department with the amount to use. The rewards people apply that amount to a one time use credit card number and the dealer uses that number to get payment. It's a slow process, but they seemed familiar with it.
