I tried this with my last jeep, at the time they were offering 3% back on all dealership purchases.
I tried to pay for the entire jeep with the CC. The sales manager told me it wasnt possible and anything over $500 they would have to mark up 2.5% because thats what they are charged to process CCs.
I told him, I wouls need to find another dealer. He knocked off $800 and told me that left him with less than $300 profit.
I said thank you.
When I came back a year later to purchase a van, at closing I got out the CC, he disnt find the joke as funny as I did.
You're good , lol .

Looks like they're now offering a $1000 bonus certificate, but only on certain vehicles and the Wrangler doesn't qualify unfortunately.

Can anyone confirm that you get 5% back on vehicle purchases, not just accessories and service?

#41 only indicates rewards were redeemed towards accessories or new vehicle purchase. Doesn't indicate if you get 5%, 2%, or 1% back on vehicle purchase and the DriverPlus website lists vehicle accessories and maintenance as 5% items but not vehicle purchase.

From #41; The dealerwith the Cherokee has a policy of limiting credit cards to $3000, but they did bump that to $10,000, so I'll have another $1000 in rewards when that goes through.

So yes, applies to vehicle. When the statement is processed for rewards, they look at where the purchase was made, not what was purchased. Look at all my posts on this thread for more information.

Did it work they way you thought?

I got a Jeep card a year ago. I am buying a new JLU S next week. I had earned almost 60,000 points and was able to cash them in for just under $1200 towards my jeep purchase. I was planning on putting another $10k down, but I had not even thought of using the card. I just emailed my dealer to see if they will let me, because I would love to use those rewards at the dealer next month for some upgrades. $1,000 goes a ways for upgrades. Since I have the $10K in savings now, its of no consequence to me to pay by check or card, and then electronically pay the card off the next day. Especially if it gets me a$1000 in free toys. Driveplus also said they have issued me the $1000 bonus cash certificate (for use towards a new FCA purchase), but as others have said, I do not think it is applicable to Wranglers, because FCA hates Wrangler customers.( I have asked the dealer, waiting on a response) The cert should be here Friday or Monday (supposedly it printed this past Monday), and I buy the Jeep next Tuesday.
Anyway, the $1200 in points worked perfect, they have already been removed from my account. I have paid $0 in interest on the card since I got it last year. So that was free-free to me. I just used it for auto pay on all normal bills, and normal expenses, that I would be paying anyway, which with a wife and 4 children, is a lot. I always get asked, do you drive a Jeep, because of the card, and I always have responded, I will soon, :)!
Best of all, I get to drive a new Sting Gray JLUS home next Tuesday, the dealer gave me $9,000 off MSRP, Jeep gave me another $1200 off, so I feel like I got a pretty good deal.

I remember a guy here doesn't know how credit cards work and he is cash only type of guy - careful trying to explain to him how CC works when you pay them off every month :giggle:

Its very important to remember to use the card like cash. Only buy what you can afford, and what you were going to pay for with cash anyway. Many people will lose control using cards, and spend too much, or buy extra stuff, and then not be able to afford to pay it off. Its a trap for sure, the banks bet you'll fall for it. But a responsible person, can figure out how to take advantage.
I am curious how the OP made out with his plan to pay his down payment. I dont see where he ever reported back.

It IS free money if you are careful and manage your payments properly. All things considered, it's not the credit card companies that benefit (other than the terminal fees), it's FCA making dealer sales

A few points you are missing on this deal:
1) Any purchase over $499 at the dealer is 6mo interest free if paid in full by end of term (if you don't you pay in full, you also pay accrued interest for the entire period based on every month's average daily balance)
2) Any FCA purchase is 5% cash back
3) First purchase over $499 is a $100 credit
4) If you pay your bill in full by the due date (6mo in this case) there is no interest (free use of their money).

For these "interest free" deals it's best to schedule ALL the payments via billpay to pay off a month early. No chance of missing deadline dates and paying accrued interest.

I applied for the Jeep card but it didn't come in time for delivery, the dealer limit on down payments was $2,500 anyway so the "free money" would have only been $225 anyway. Trying now to figure out what I want from the dealer for >$499 so I can get my free $100. ;)

I have the ram card, same card just with a ram. Anyways another perk of the card for my military brothers and sisters, they lowered my interest rate to 0 for 36 months( to cover the time i'm deployed) and gave me a $400 statement credit (free money). Great card to have in your wallet IMO.

The dealer just agreed to let me use my card for my down payment. So I'll get about $450 in jeep points that double at the dealer for a $900 value, at no cost to me, other than asking my dealer real nicely. Then next week sometime, I'll pay the card off with the money in my savings account ear marked for my down payment. That $900 will go a long way towards paying for a dealer installed Katzkin interior. I think I've read $1100 is the going rate.
The only other mod I desire is Rubi wheels and tires. I'm hopeful to pick up a new set of takeoffs for $900. There are a few on FB marketplace and Craigslist in the city I'm picking my Jeep up in. They're all asking $1100-$1200. Hopefully Benjamin's talk.
I still don't know if my Bonus cash certificate that driveplus is sending out will qualify. their response is, let us look at the cert. I should have it Monday afternoon, hopefully, if it truly went out this week as Driveplus (jeep card) says.
If you got a Jeep card in 2018, check your anniversary date. Mine was May 6th. So they issue the $1000 bonusdrive cash cert on your anniversary. If your looking in to a jeep card, get it quickly, and pay all your bills the next 3 months, You should easily hit the $7500 required to qualify. Given if Wranglers don't end up qualifying right now, for me, I would guess they might by next year, given all the left over inventory form 2018. Seems wranglers are starting to sell a bit more slowly, and rising gas prices, and an increasingly unstable economy wont help either. Wranglers will always be popular, but a few percentage will have a big effect on the accounting dept.

Yes, it worked the way I thought. You have to wait until the end of the month bill to use the rewards, because that's when they are calculated. I also charge everything on the card to accumulate more rewards.

I found a wholesale FCA parts dealer in MI that will sell me the Katzkin leather kit for $709, plus shipping. Since I have $900 in rewards bucks, that will leave a little for something else down the road. I may save points for a year, and then when I need new tires, I will buy them from the local dealer for free! My monthly chargeable expenses run about $3000, so I can accrue about $1200 per year in points for free. It looks like $12-1600 should buy a new set of KO2's.
I do not really want to go crazy on mods. I would have just bought a JLUR, but they were about $18K more than my deal, and I wont ever rock crawl, so I don't really need Rubi axles, or t case, but I will go on the beach, so those Rubi tires are a must, and I really like the Rubi wheels.

To get the double rewards, they have to be an FCA dealer, so verify that they qualify. I can order from Quadratec and other vendors through my local dealer which means I can use rewards for almost anything, although special promotions may not be honored.
