What's the best product to apply to side-steps and running boards to stop rust from forming?

POR-15 is the only one i've ever had success with. However, it is designed to adhere to rust...i've been told that it does not adhere as well to non-rusted surfaces. Can't say from personal experience though because i've only ever used it to coat rust and it's phenomenal at that.

CRC Marine grade.

I used Blaster Surface Shield. It adhered the best to non rusty metal, better than Fluid film and Wool Wax.
