Hi! I bought a brand new a 2025 Rubicon x with xtreme recon. It only has 200 miles on it right now. Every time I turn on the vehicle and start driving it i notice a single light thud/thump when I press the gas and start rolling. It only happens when the car is driven from being off. But if I parked it and drive it again it doesn’t happen. I have to switch the vehicle off and on again for this thing to occur. Is this normal?

Not to be crass on your first post but does that seem normal for a 2025 with 200 miles to be doing that? I’m going to assume it’s automatic. Is it V6 or 2.0L? Is it like a hesitation or like your running something over or like a backfire? And does it happen every time the car is restarted or just the first initial drive from being parked say over night or after work?

Mine is a 2025 manual V6 and while driving, around 1700-2000rpm under light load there’s quite a few of us who get what feels like a backfire/hesitation but there are no engine codes that pop up when this happens. But it’s consistent and always between this specific rpm range up to about 4th gear. There are a few automatics that have this issue also. Well not so much an issue more of an annoyance.

Yes its automatic with 2.0L. It feels like i run over something but its very light and you need to pay attention to notice it. Its also happening as soon as I restart the car. But doesn’t happen anymore of i dont turn the car off.

Is it when there is still a high idle from start up? Give it some time to let the engine settle down to the normal idle before putting it into gear and see if it happens.

This is just normal drivetrain slack lockup. Don't worry about it.
I was actually thinking if this is just a normal drivetrain lash. Cos it always happen even if i warm up the car. It happens every restart

It happens every restart even if i let the car settle or warm up. After the thud happens it doesn’t happen until i turn the car off and drive it again

Interesting then yea Im stumped. I do get a clunk when I am impatient and just dump it in gear after a cold start but thats to be expected.
