It seems like too many folks have experienced the heartbreak of snapping off the front body mount bolt when removing the OEM Rubicon’s rock rails. I plan to install aftermarket rails just like many of us. I’ll use heat to break the red loctite, go slow and steady, and pray for the best. But I haven’t seen anyone post yet about replacing the OEM bolts with something more robust like grade 8 bolts. I don’t have my Jeep yet to measure them. Can anyone who’s able find out the size and thread pitch and post them here? It should only cost a few dollars to step up to stronger hardware and avoid this problem if/when I ever remove them again. Thanks!

I think you're getting some bolts confused. The rubicon rails are barely held on and nobody is snapping them. The problem bolts are the body to frame mounting bolts that stronger aftermarket sliders are bolting to.
