I picked up a set of RSE Slider Steps and I'm wondering if anyone has been able to wire them directly to the door ajar wires similar to how the AMP steps are installed and avoid the included magnet and reed switches. See page 8 of the AMP Research steps here on their method:

According to the JL wiring diagram, it depicts the door ajar sense as a simple switch with a loop back to the BCM:

When I backstab the pin on the connector however, I get 4ish volts when opened and 7ish when closed, which makes be believe these are actually on a bus, and not a simple circuit or a pull-up/down design.
Hopefully I didn't miss a similar topic in my search...
Any thoughts?
