Roof Rack + RTT setup

I'm about to order a Gobi rack for my JL. My main goal is to mount a Roof Top Tent.

Is the standard crossbar width sufficient for most tents, or is it worth getting the 60" or 80" bars?

Appreciate any feedback on what you guys are running!

It really depends on the RTT you get, and how much space there is when opened vs closed, where it's mounted on the crossbars, etc. I have a relatively narrow RTT that affords me room on the other side of the crossbars to mount an awning, shower tent, or strap down some items during transit. This is on a Dee Zee rack, which I believe are 60" width bars.

I have an Alu-Cab RTT,with Gobi roof rack; I use Alu-Cab's low profile cross bars........Just make sure you get ladders for both sides.

Just be aware that the wider you go the more limited you are when wheeling. I ended up removing and selling our 270 degree awning due to "issues" when trying to do narrow trails.

2nd that. Especially at roof rack height which can reach surprisingly far out when off-camber.

I still have my awning because with a 2dr and a Clearlidz I just need to look up to see if it will or will not clear something. But you always need to be mindful of it.
