Does anyone have an tried and proved way to keep the rodents out of the engine bay?
I have tried a few found ideas, but nothing has worked.
Maybe I can come up with some nail bed for the battery area like what is done to keep birds off statues and such!?!?!

I am constantly finding chewed up acorns scattered about the engine bay, especially near or on the battery, and once pulled the beginnings of a nest from the air intake area. It is not like the vehicle sits around, I use it almost everyday, but still the rodents persist!

Recently I had pulled the inner lining from the hood for some work I was doing, left the liner out for about a week. I even thought of leaving it out permanently.
In that week the rodents filled up the cavities of the hood inside with acorns, I could never get them all out and still can hear them rattle a bit when opening and closing the hood. I was able to get several dozens out just by opening and closing the hood, but I still cant get them all out!

Bounce dryer sheets supposedly work.

You can buy rodent repellent bags on Amazon, Walmart or an RV store.

Peppermint oil - you can buy it on Amazon or just go buy peppermint essential oil @ wal-mart, $5, and dilute it in a spray bottle + add a few drops liquid dish soap. Spray it around the under the hood, etc. It doesn't stain or effect plastic, corrode metals. Actually smells good.

There is also electronic devices like this - https://rid-a-rat.com/

I have 2 brothers that swear by these sent packs. The one brother stores his boat out in the barn for the winter and has never had a problem. I store my JL in the garage. I have not seen any signs of rodents. And have not had any trouble.

One thing is you need to change them out after a couple of months. As they loose potency.

I have a rodent issue in my wife's car. I installed the Loraffe ultrasonic deterrent from amazon last week. So far, a week later and no evidence. Although, it does take about a month or two for a nest to form. I'm also planning on soaking some cotton balls in peppermint oil and hanging a small satchel under the engine.

One of the last tenants had an unfortunate accident with the serpentine belt. The other tenant must have had a heart attack because he was just laying at the bottom on top of a plastic panel.

How often do you drive your Jeep? Is it sitting for extended periods or does this happen overnight?

Glue traps... it will catch them and you will know you got them instead of wondering. May sound inhumane but so is paying $600 for wiring.

You need a bigger lift and 40” so they can’t climb :)

Sonic or sensory repellents never worked for us. I used two wire cages using peanut butter as bait, and got 14 mice caught in a week, in our veggie garden.

Years back, my fathers Toyota had a problem with mice/rats eating the wire insulation around the ignition wires. He replaced them twice, until he shoved a small box of rat/mouse poison pellets inside the engine bay, away from the heat. He never had an issue after that. It always happened during winter times.

Squirrels destroyed the wiring harness on my jk twice:
Dryer sheets
Special tape
Moth balls
Sprays
Rat poison
Glue strips

None of these worked. Bought an electric light and sound emitter, this is the only thing that worked.

I tried the peppermint spray, it did not do the trick.
Thanks.
