I wired a rock light kit directly to my battery that is powered on and off using an app on my cell phone. Roughly a week and a half after installation i started having problems with my battery, at one point my car turned off while at a stoplight. I have never had battery issues before this. during the installation process., i lost a bolt and nut and attachment linked to the positive end of my battery terminal. I replaced it, but i believe i replaced it with the wrong size bolt. I am currently now having battery issues with my vehicle and it will not start. What steps should i take to fix this issue?

I’m no expert but here’s what I would do.

Remove the rock light connection from the battery to take them out of the equation.

Get the correct hardware reinstalled.

Check for corrosion or loose battery terminal connections

With the rock lights still disconnected fully recharge your battery or batteries with a decent charger like a NOCO Genius 10

Once fully charged have the battery or batteries load tested to determine their health and/or useful life remaining

If you have two batteries replace both at the same time (if they are an issue) even if one out of the two test ok

My bet it is just coincidental. Check your auxiliary battery for end of life.

May be getting parasitic draw from the rock lights. I would wire to a switched fuse

If they turn on and off with an app it has to power a bluetooth transceiver that is always running. I'd definitely move it to a switched power source.
