Rock Hard plastic bumper winch mount.

Has anyone used this winch mount or something similar? I am on a wee bit of a budget and the bumpers I want are way to expensive. I posted a link to what I am looking at.

Yup. Very solid and a great way to get a winch mounted on a budget. It does sit high, as you'd expect.
Long term goal is bumper replacement but we needed the winch on first. It does block the trail cam, which I rarely use anyway.

For that amount of money, you could probably get a Rubicon take off. The steel bumpers are made to fit the winch down inside them. You would still need a winch plate.

If you're willing to cut your plastic bumper and trim some of the thin sheet metal inside of it with a grinder or similar there are other options too. Look at This Thread. 2+ years in and I still haven't bought a different bumper yet.

I got an mp concepts bumper from extreme terrain as an open box for $300.

I had to buy replacement plastic bumper inserts from Mopar for the front. They are cheap.

It also came with a winch plate and the side sections like the steel bumper. I've chosen not to use those.

I am partially lazy, I have been eyeballing your method. I just happen to do enough of cutting, grinding, and everything else for work.

It is a Grimm Winch Plate that I got at Northridge, slighly less than the Rockhard one you were looking at. The whole thing took me an afternoon, including figuring out how to remove the bumper and priming the cut sections of the metal insert.
