**Update:

Do not buy from 4WP -- I can confirm my bumper was used, possibly a return. I requested a refund from 4WD.com instead of an exchange as I obviously can't trust them. They said they would process and have not heard from back from them. They won't pick up the phone when I call them. I am gonna call UPS and report the damage, in case 4WP tries to pull a "item got damaged in shipping" which isn't true, but just to cover myself.

I ordered through quadratec. They did price match and gave me the forum member discount. They don't have these bumpers in their warehouses, so they ship them directly from Rugged Ridge. I am basically guaranteed to get it straight from the manufacturer, which is better.

I'll let you guys know how the bumper looks once I get the new one, and if I don't hear back from 4WD I am driving to their warehouse and dropping their sh!t off there. Luckily it got shipped from a warehouse that is 20 miles from my house, and I don't wanna deal with their crap.

It is very unethical to send an item that was returned to a customer sold as "new". They should have disclosed this information. So that store and all their branches is out of my radar.

Sounds just like something 4WD/4WP would try to pull off.

Yeap I just filed a ticket through rugged ridge letting them know about the unethical practice and how it makes their brand look bad.

Honestly I would’ve just touched it up. You’ll see when you put a new bumper on your going to need to touch up the hardware so it doesn’t rust. Once you use a tool in all the hardware it scratches that paint off. I always touch up the hardware on anything I replace on the exterior of a vehicle for this reason.

I was going to. it is hard to show on the pictures, but there is a piece where the metal is actually pretty damaged so I would have to grind it a bit, it isnt just a scratch or some peeling finish. Ive received scratched parts before and I just touch them up, this was heavily damaged as if it was dropped on concrete.

That makes sense then. I couldn’t see that in the pictures. I’d return it to in that case.

* Update:

4WD.com accepted processing my damaged bumper for a refund after a week and after I contacted rugged ridge. They sent an e-mail saying UPS was gonna make 3 attempts to pick up, and if they didn't pick it up in 3 weeks I could "discard" the item. It has been sitting on my driveway for 2 days. I have not received my refund yet, I would guess I will once UPS picks it up. It took a few calls, e-mails, and contacting rugged ridge.

I contacted rugged ridge and they told me the packaging was inconsistent to how they packaged their bumpers, and that they checked all of them. I was contacted by somebody who works on QC. I let them know that I received a returned item from 4WD.com

Today I received the same bumper, ordered from Quadratec. It came straight from the manufacturer. Packaging was much much better. The box was in great condition and so was every item inside the box. The powder coating looks pretty decent, and we will see how it holds up. One of the recovery hooks did have a small scratch from damage, not sure how it happened since packaging was so good. It was pretty tiny so I just touched it up and looks like new.

I really wish I would have taken more pictures of the items from 4WD.com. Every single component of the bumper was damaged, and some of the damage was pretty bad.

Quadratec was great as usual. They matched the 4WD.com price and gave me a 5% forum member on top of that. I got a solid deal, the bumper looks great, and I could not be happier!

Now waiting for a SB winch to go on sale! oh and still deciding on which rear bumper to get, might get the arcus one to match the front.

awesome looking bumper guys. And light enough. Installation is pretty easy, just a bit of a pain to get everything to line up. And you need two people to get it on at the end. I am holding the license plate with zip ties for the moment. I have a license plate holder but got lazy.

Excellent. Glad it finally got sorted out. Bumper looks good!

Do not buy from 4WP
I stopped buying things from 4WP when they kept giving me the runaround on a Teraflex lift kit I bought for my JK years back. They gave me three delivery dates within a month and every time I went to pick it up, it wasn't there. They kept blaming Teraflex and Teraflex kept telling me 4WP was refusing to pay the freight cost to get it here.

When I told the guy at 4WP that I was going to call Teraflex and that we're all going to get to the bottom of it right then and there, they suddenly discovered a "freight payment error," finally paid it, and I got the kit a few days later.

When I picked up the lift kit, 4WP gave me shit about how they had to eat shipping costs like I was the asshole. If you're going to lose money on a product you sell, either up the price or don't sell it at all.

So yeah, fuck 4WP.

If I were to accept damaged goods from a retailer, I would require a significant discount as compensation.

Why should I pay full price for damaged goods when other customers are receiving perfectly good merchandise?
