Rugged Ridge warranty

I purchased a set of Rugged Ridge Fortis tube doors from a fellow Jeeper. I’ve been using them for a few months and now the spring inside the driver’s door has broken and the latch doesn’t work. I contacted RR and they said the only fix is replacement, but since I bought them from a fellow Jeeper, the warranty is void. They want me to buy brand new doors, which I will not be doing. So just be careful when buying RR products from other members. RR is not willing to honor the warranty if you are not the original owner. They actually told me that they won’t honor the warranty for anything not purchased directly from them. So take that for what it’s worth.

They generally have pretty solid warranty durations, but they are specifically for the original purchaser (which I'd assume is the case for the majority of manufacturers).

My purchases have been through authorized distributors like Northridge 4x4, and they've always taken that invoice as proof of purchase.

I would say that for the most part, transferable warranty is very rare for parts and add-ons. I'm not a fan of RR, but I wouldn't pin this on them. I think it's very normal

Whatever their warranty policy is it would be nice of them to sell you the parts needed to fix the door. Would seem like an easy and good solution. That way you would be posting how great they are and how you will buy from them in the future instead of this..

I’ve gotten individual parts from them both under warranty and paid when I trail damaged them. The Fortis door handles aren’t customer assembled, so I’d think you’d have to order the entire door section (excluding the customer assembled hinges and mirrors).
