I had a little construction company that I did from 1985-2015 in Kansas. The funny thing - When I started, there was virtually hardly any paperwork. One page contracts, deal with insurance guy once a year for renewal, no insurance bonding, etc. Fast forward 30 years and Lawyers, Politicians and insurance people have taken something pretty simple and turned it into a real mess...

Anyway, I'm 11 years into this and can't complain either. Wife and I moved to Colorado from Kansas a couple years ago and wish we could've a lot sooner. Every day is Jeep day here if we want it to be.

A little "Totem" we had a local artist come up with that tells a little story significant to our life so far;

Yeah, don't do it. You'll hate it. I fell for it one year. My old company wanted me back on a consulting contract for about a year. Pay was ridiculously enticeing. It only demanded a handful of hours a week. Still, I had to be at online meetings and do a few hours of work every week. I wanted my freedom more than the money. I made it through, but I was very unhappy. Retired engineers are frequently "brought back" for consulting work and I had actually made arrangements with my management to return before I retired because I loved my job coordinating with virtually the whole company and federal regulators daily. But covid put almost 2 years of time between my retirement and the return to work. It spoiled me. I'll never work again. You discover that your time is more important than money. Even if it's just to work on a damn jeep. 🤣
