I don't know the size but I took mine apart this weekend to add polyfill to it and added sound deadener to every area the entire closure butts up against because I was experiencing an annoying rattle on certain bass frequencies. To my surprise when I pulled the sub out the entire panel enclosure is hollow the entire length of the enclosure. I'd guess at least 1 cubic foot if I had to. I filled the entire thing with polyfill and it sounds 100% better. It's sealed not ported. The sound deadener lined on the body seems to have gotten rid of the rattle too.
Hogzilla: resurrecting this thread because you did a simple fix that I'm wondering about. I'd like to avoid a new amp, sub, cost - but want to improve the Alpine sub output. I was shocked to see an empty plastic enclosure when I saw videos of it being disassembled. Deadener and polyfill noticeably improved the stock sub setup? Thanks!

Yes the polyfill definitely made an improvement with the bass sound. It was just a better bass sound overall, a deeper and cleaner sound. The sound deadener I used on the body panels like I mentioned to eliminate a rattle I was getting I guess when the enclosure would vibrate against the body panels. If you are looking to make the bass louder though this is not the solution for you.

Thanks. Not looking for louder (those days are behind me) just cleaner and deeper, like you said. I figure it can't hurt anything to spend an afternoon getting some polyfill in there.

When I did the initial install of the Quart stage 6 kit, and rewired the sub, I covered the inside and backside of the enclosure with 80 mil sound deadening mat. It seemed to help.

Old thread, but did this work for you? Any insight is appreciated.
I tried it and the inside diameter was too wide for the JL Audio Sub that I was trying to use. The only sub that could fit at that time was the Fosgate sub that they offer. I believe that they changed that dimension after I informed them. Quart has a drop in sub that is the same dimensions as the OEM Alpine right down to the screw in the back of the enclosure that uses the sub frame so stiffen the enclosure. I got word from Quart tech support that it was coming soon so I stopped messing with the sub after this post and waited for their sub which was released right after Christmas 2023. Had one a week later and haven’t looked back. Feel free to pm me if you have any other questions. Right now running the full stage 6 kit but I replaced the AmpPro with a Fosgate DSR-1 DSP with the PLC-2 Bass knob. Very happy with the system.
