My brand new JLUR painted hardtop has a paint defect from the factory. My question is if I get a new top will It fit without issue? Meaning leak, rattle etc... or should I just paint it???

Most dealers would not replace it they would just fix it as it’s not really up to you unless your paying for it

Thank you for your reply. Yes that I understand but was just wondering if I did replace it would it be an issue since it’s not the original top which came from the factory. Just hate to paint a new top.

this.

Mo, just so you have a frame of reference, replacing a hard top is not like trying to match the paint on the wall after having fixed a defect, with no can of the original used to paint the wall.

The process by which they're made makes them infinitely more consistent, on top of (no pun) the fact that particularly with the rear portion, there's enough micro-flex in the material to account for things like 1/32" inconsistencies.

And speaking of paint, I don't see the fact that yours is painted making any difference....maybe after years of use a new painted top, without UV exposure, may reflect light differently than the matching body color paint, but not at this earlier point in your ownership.

Andy, thanks for your feed back. I would think that the color being Bright White would match the rest of the wrangler because they are mass produced and not made specifically for one individual Wrangler. Speaking with the dealer they just wanted me to get a 2020 to make sure it was a good match. Just needed to make sure I wasn’t getting myself Into on going problems by getting a new top.
