I have a 2022 JLUR, 3.6l. Less than a year ago I had to replace the battery…$400ish spend! About 3 weeks ago my remote start wouldn’t work, still doesn’t. It gives a single honk of the horn, not the usual double and it didn’t even try to start. I have researched troubleshooting and a weak battery may be the culprit. It shows that it’s charging, no other indications of weakness. This morn’n when leaving the gym, the dash indicated to push the start button with the FOB…?…1st time I’ve seen this! Any idea what’s up? I plan to go by the dealer ASAP but work’n 10-14hr days doesn’t accommodate sitting at a dealership…thanks in advance for any informative feedback

Have you tried your spare key?

Replacing the FOB battery?

I don't know if the Jeep does this - I checked the fluids in the wife's F-150. The remote start failed to work the next time she tried it. After trying several things, I tried remote start while sitting in the truck and the dash said the hood was not fully closed. If not for trying the start while sitting in the truck, I would have never found the problem.

I work away from home so the spare isn’t with me. I’ll get a new battery for the FOB…

I have seen where a bad BCM (body control module) will cause remote start issues. Also a door ajar will prevent a start. And low fuel will make it shut down.

If the low fuel light is on the remote start may not work. At least thats how it was on the Ram trucks I’ve owned in the past

I have a 2019 JLUR…my remote stopped working a few weeks ago. I learned that when the latch mechanism in your doors stops functioning properly, it will cause your remote start not to work. Your Jeep has to think all of the doors are closed.

When the Jeep is not running, open one door at a time. If the light comes on inside, that door latch is good. If the light does not come on, then you probably found your issue. For me, it was my driver side rear door. I’ve ordered a new latch mechanism, but just haven’t installed it yet.

To prove my point, I also just acquired a set of half doors. When I installed them, my remote started functioning properly again.

This is probably your issue.

Hope this helps.

I saw where the fuel low was a possibility, not in this case. I did the door open check also, good there. I hope I was over thinking and missed the obvious…FOB battery…lol…I’ll know in a few hours when I get off….thx!

When I had this issue, it was the purple wire in the rear driver side door/wire harness. The purple wire had split. W/ the jeep thinking the door is ajar, it won't start remotely.

A CEL will also disable the remote start.

As mentioned above there are many things that can disable the remote start. Some basic trouble shooting can help narrow down what is causing this. I wouldn't go and just start throwing random parts at it because somebody else had this issue. No offense, but just because one person had an issue with the door latch/switch I wouldn't go and say "that is probably your issue". It is one possible cause, but there are many other possible causes also.
The fact it stated you needed to hold the keyfob up to the start button tells me it's likely the FOB causing the issue, with a low battery the first thing I would check. Having to hold the FOB up to the start button along with it not remote starting points to a specific cause. If the door ajar was the issue it wouldn't be asking you to hold the FOB up to the start button, and the same is true for many other possible issues that would prevent remote start.
