I am looking to add red lighting to the interior of my new JL for use when camping.
My first thought was just to replace some of the overhead lights with red LED bulbs but it seems like overhead lights are one unit and do not have user replaceable bulbs. Next though is rocklights, wired into one of the aux switches but that seems somewhat inelegant to me.

Has anyone else done this? What did you do?

We have an led light strip that changes colors lined along inside the bed of our taco. It can be flipped to red. Also, have red bulbs in just one of the cab lights so there's still the option for a brighter light if needed.

What about a red film for the 2 main dome lights that come on when the doors open? It's a simple solution for what's already there.
From what I can tell from other threads about the LED lighting module in the 2019+ there isnt really a good spot to color a lense red either (from the inside anyway).

My thought was a red tint film applied right to the outside of the dome light lenses. No disassembly or removal of anything, just as simple as putting a decal on a window. So cheap and easy that it can be removed and reapplied in a minute or so as needed. I've read many times of other members doing the same thing to fog and aux lights, when wanting to change them from white to amber. Multiple layers can be added to get the desired affect. I wonder why not the same on the dome lights?

I replaced every interior bulb in my last truck with red LEDs for this exact reason. Problem was, I couldn't see sh*t after that. They just don't have nearly the output of a white LED. Searching for something on the floor, let alone inside a bag or something, necessitated a separate white light. Totally not worth it.

I spray the seats down with permethrin now and then, and carry DEET.

I'll look around for the film and give it a try if I can find something.
