I am curious what people are using to carry tools and recovery gear in the back of their Wrangler.
I am currently using a Factor medium 55 Bag along with a Yeti GoBox 60. The GoBox works great but I wonder if it is a bit overkill and it would be better to go with something lighter Weight. The Yeti is 17.2 lbs. I do like that the sturdiness of the Yeti makes it easy to secure. I actually know someone whom was seriously injured in a wreck from being hit in the head with a vacuum cleaner in the back of their car. Anyway, just wonder if anyone was happy with and able to secure something lighter.

Thanks,
Lynn

I rolled a 911 off a mountain road in my younger days. I keep everything in the Jeep under Tuffy cargo enclosures, in Cargo Dog storage that replaced the rear seat, lashed down with cargo straps, or secured to Molle racks. I understand it’s an over reaction. The only thing not secured in some way would be a 16 oz bottle of Costco water or my wife’s Starbucks coffee. Think about what you’re willing to have dropped on your head from a minimum of about 3 feet while driving. It only gets more violent in a rollover or crash. But that kind of thing only happens to other people right? I like Sidio half crates with lids. I have my main recovery gear in. 24x10x10 Bucket Boss tool bag.

And that one reason I have a Cargo Dog. I don't like tools, sharp knives, sharp shovel or other things smacking me in my big ass head in an accident. If it can fly forward it get strapped down. Well except for the dog..... Mr. Business, he wanders from my wife's lap to his bed to the top of the fridge. He will probably kill me a different way.

I use lockable, waterproof Pelican Storm Cases and a similar knockoff brand. If you look closely in the pic, you can see 4 of them. This is my configuration (with other items added of course) for off-road trips. I do have a 2/3rds seat delete.

For everyday travel I have 2 of the smaller ones directly behind the passenger seat (locked and secured from being able to be removed from the JP without some effort).

I run safari style here in NW Iowa from April through Halloween. We get snow, rain, blowing dusty winds, etc. so the waterproof part is essential.

My solution may not be lighter than yours but works for my needs. That jumbo box you see at the tailgate in the 1st pic doubles wonderfully as a table when set up in camp :)

GL with your hunt for the perfect system!

I bought the old version when they were half the price, but I've had good luck with the Front Runner Wolf Packs.

They're simple, not too big or small, light weight, sturdy, stackable, and easy to secure with straps.
