New to this. Got a JLURD with an Evo 10S. Want to get some recovery gear. Eventually will have Warn bumpers front and rear with 37" tires and loaded up with gear.
What breaking strength do I need on my shackles, etc? I've heard 1.5 x the expected vehicle weight. Assuming everything is rated for 10,000#, that would allow me a Jeep weight of 6,666#, which I believe is pretty conservative for where my vehicle weight will land.

I'm not winching myself up rock cliffs really. More out of the snow and mud in the mountains.

How dangerous would it be to use a nylon strap with a WLL of 6,000# as an extension to the winch line in a pinch? Just asking because I already have one that is rated for this - I can foresee what responses I'm going to get on this.... :)

Thanks!

everything you need here - https://arbusa.com/recovery-basics/

read and learn -
So I read it all and unless I'm missing something the only place I saw them say something about the required capacity is for the snatch snap. Not seeing it for shackles, snatch blocks, etc. Am I missing it?

There is some other good information there. Thank you.
