Need to get my Wrangler serviced. I live in Manhattan but willing to travel. All of the reviews I've seen of Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram Service centers in Manhattan and nearby Jersey are really, really bad.

Any recommendations on good spots for service within striking distance of Manhattan?

Also, this is my first time getting service since purchasing. It's been about 8 months. Will it be covered? Do I need to bring documentation to have it covered?

What kind of service does it need? I think you'd still be covered under the "Jeep Wave" program (2 years and a few free oil changes) if you can find a dealership that you trust.

Personally, I haven't had a bad experience at Rt. 4 CJDR in Paramus, but it's been quite a while since I was there. Had a few things taken care of on my JL while under warranty with no issues, got a few freebie OC's with the Jeep Wave, and they even took care of some old airbag safety recalls on my son's '03 Jeep Liberty without any drama.

Both of our Jeeps are out of the 3/36 warranty and I like to do my own maintenance, so I just do it. Wrangler oil changes and diff services are easy.

Thanks a lot. Sounds like I will be covered under Jeep Wave. Will give them a call to confirm that, thanks.

I was actually planning on heading to the spot you mentioned, CJDR in Paramus, but their reviews on Google are pretty brutal. Not sure if something changed recently, or if the customers are just snobby, but in general it seems like folks are not very happy with them: https://goo.gl/maps/nv2tLZnTyftTPVrj8

(sort reviews by new - most of the 5-star reviews are for the sales team. the service team is getting pretty beat up)

Ooof, that's not looking good over there. They also own the CJDR in Englewood Cliffs, which has similar reviews. We bought my wife's old Liberty (now my son's) at Teterboro. I've been there a few times for parts, but never had work done there. Not sure if their reputation is any better or worse for service.

Will take a look at CJDR in Englewood Cliffs, thanks.

If anyone else has recommendations for a place in the NYC area, please let me know!

Did you find a good dealer/independent shop/mechanic to work on your Jeep?
I have previously tried both Rt4 and Englewood Cliffs Jeep dealers for my Grand Cherokee and i haven't been back because, well....., lets just say I wasn't happy with their service departments.

Some of the Wrangler stuff is pretty easy for a DIY person; oil changes and diff service for example. I do my own, or my son will do some stuff for us too. Oil changes are really easy with a Rubicon, you can slide under it without a jack haha.

If you need something more than that done, it should be handled under warranty. If you're out of warranty, I'm guessing you're in the Bergen County area, you could try Doyle's Auto Service in New Milford. They have excellent reviews. I've never used them but I see Jeeps of all flavors there.

Thank you I appreciate the response and shop suggestion, New Milford is close enough I can swing by... I might try to do some on my own if it's easy enough to get under there...I used to do oil changes and minor service items myself so maybe not a bad idea to start again and teach my kids.

Yeah, the 3.6 oil change is really easy. The filter is a cartridge-style on the top of the motor so you don't even get dirty doing the job. The 2.0 is slightly messier because the filter is down below and mounted on an angle so it runs out, but it's not terrible.
