I've searched this forum but can't find a recent answer.

The Level 1 charging cable for my new 2024 4xE is just not long enough, and I'm not comfortable using an extension cord on it (since Mopar specifically says not to and this is a $50k vehicle).

I need something 30' or longer that plugs into a standard outlet. I may upgrade to level 2 later but I don't want to spend the ~$1200 it would cost here. Any recommendations?

You need like 10'? Just use the shortest 12/3 "Heavy Duty" extension cord that will work.

There's wire in your wall just like in the extension cord.

Is romex wire really the same as an extension cord? Not challenging you - just asking. I was always told otherwise.

It's solid vs. stranded, but for the most part AWG is what matters for voltage drop/heat production.

If you can see the jacket in the box, white is normally 14 and yellow is 12. 14 is the standard for 15 amp circuits and 12 for 20 amp circuts.

Not that I would run a 100 footer, but a short run of 12 shouldn't be an issue.

Also, at least in my experience, the Mopar Level 1 that is included is really sensitive to voltage drop, I'd expect it to error out before anyone experiences an issue.
