So, I took our JL in for it's first service yesterday through the Wave program and also had the dealership check a a few minor concerns, including the rear washer nozzle leaking down the rear window. As soon as I mentioned the leak to him, he immediately said he was aware of the issue as they had seen it on many JK's and they were wondering if the JL would have the same issue. Apparently mine was the first JL to come in for service at this particular dealer. They confirmed the issue was the same they had seen before and stated the fix was to replace the small washer fluid hose from the rear hard top connector that goes up through the hard top to the rear washer nozzle with a larger diameter hose. They said the issue is in fact pressure buildup in the hose that goes through the hardtop pushing washer fluid out of the nozzle and that they had resolved it by replacing with a larger hose that can accommodate the pressure fluctuations without pushing washer fluid out the rear nozzle and down the window. His explanation made sense and the fact that they stock the larger hoses for this repair made me feel like maybe this could be the real fix but time will tell. It has only been 24 hours but so far so good. I will report back in a few days to let you all know if it is holding up or not.
Yeah I'd be hesitant on that. Jeep again told me today they are working on a fix and will disseminate it through the proper channels when available. Larger diameter hoses still build pressure, just takes longer to heat the material and contents. The issue is at the nozzle on a JL. You also mentioned JKs, their fix may work for that but not a JL.

Oh I am definitely hesitant on it. I just found it interesting that the dealer seemed aware of the issue and already had what they considered a fix. But like I said, time will tell if that is true or not.

Damn, why didn't I think of this..... that is a great permanent fix for sure........ Maybe I can get the dealership to do it under warranty........... LOL
I pumped all the factory fluid out and filled with Rainex fluid no more drip.

It's also very probably the OE fluid is mostly water based but the nozzle is still a design flaw.

It obviously has something to do with pressure in the line. I find that the more I use mine, the less it drips. I guess because it stays primed up and doesn't lose pressure that way. I dunno.
Thinking the same thing. Ether fluid expands in the line near the nozzle with heat rises or the line contracts when cooling squeezing the fluid out. I figure to fix this problem there needs to be some kind of back flow valve at the nozzle and the tank need to be vented to relieve the pressure. Bad design JEEP, do something about it! Tired of the streak running down a perfectly clean car that I worked hours on to clean. For close to $60.000 something should be done about it!

I think mine is cured. It hasn't dripped a bit since I put the soft top on.

Just found this- and I thought I was the only one! Kind of an annoyance.

I placed a whole in the fluid reservoir cap, removed the gasket on that cap. I keep the reservoir filled to the top. Since doing this, I've only had a drip once in the last thirty days or so. Before doing the aforementioned I had drips pretty much every day or two..

Age-old problem when rear winow is a low pressure area behind the roof. About 25 years ago, Toyota Previa had to have a tiny spring loaded valve stuck in the rear washer hose. The washer pump pressure was easily enough to blow the valve open when running. The low air pressure (at certain speeds) was not enough to suck fluid out of the nozzle.

If I still lived where there are "pick-a-part" junkyards, I might be able to find one...but after all these years????

Hi everyone,

If you end up going to the dealership and want this escalated to a Case Manager, please let me know. We're available via direct message and would need your VIN to get started. Very sorry for any inconvenience you've experienced with your rear window.

My dealer just got a new JLUR in yesterday and when I walked around it, the rear window washer had a big streak down the glass. I've had mine for over 2 months and it did it also. Jeep still hasn't resolved this issue obviously.

Has anyone ever gotten this problem fixed or has everyone just given up on it? I plugged the hose on mine so it doesn't leak but it would sure be nice to be able to use it if needed.
