I live in the Austin area and have access to hidden falls off road park. The trails can be extreme. Does anyone have experience with rear tow hitch skid plates such as body armor, dv8 or rugged ridge. To save the rear bumper does anyone have any experience. I’m leaning rugged ridge as it acts as a step but body armor is heavy. Post pics please.

They will all work fairly well.

A few options to consider:

https://41twentytwo.com/product/hitch-slider/ - Light weight, small.

https://ajkoffroad.com/products/hitch-skid-with-recovery-point - Full sized.

https://www.brokenrock4x4.com/ - A roller instead of a slider

Edit: I have a full sized one and it works, but am seriously considering the small 41.22 one to save on weight and space next time we go on a long-term trip. The big ones can be a bit much to drag out and stow away again when the rest of the cargo area is already full of stuff.

I have the rugged ridge one. was cheap and made in the USA. fits close and tight, and more importantly gives a good place for my poop pile to sit.....

skidmark, super heavy duty steel, also pretty heavy, will last forever and withstand anything you can throw at it. Comes in red or black.
