I'm not an extreme crawler but in offroad situations on moderate roads are skid plates on the Transfer case, engine and transmission enough? I guess more for the peace of mind!

I put an Evo engine/transmission skid on mine and left the factory t-case and gas tank skids alone.

@dlporte, Do you remove the front cross member for the Evo engine skid? I thought that was there to help prevent some frame twisting?

Factory skids are enough for me and my unlifted '21 2 dr on 33s. Skids and the rock rail got plenty of bashing last October in Moab with no ill effects. Sounded crunchy and my tailpipe is no longer round. Otherwise, a-ok.

Factory skids, plus the EVO tranny/motor skid got me through the Rubicon and all over Moab just fine. Anything more is just extra weight…

Perfect! If needed weld some 1/8" plate in the open areas front and rear on factory transfer case skidplate.

Hello to three years ago, but that's fine. For anyone stumbling across this thread, I'll also recommend shock/control arm skids at the back axle, and maybe also at the front end of the rear control arms. And plug in a hitch skid.

Thanks for reply, I try to search before just posting new threads.
Ordered Rusty's rear lower control arm mount/shock mount skids. Waiting to see how the frame mounts of rear LCA do, might buy skids there and maybe front lowers, again wheeling and see before just buying and bolting stuff on. :)

So many options but so many fall short and I'm not into full belly pan skids that add lots of weight, hold in excess heat, often reduce ground clearance and make trail repairs/maintenance a royal pita!
