I know not everything on the internet is true but I saw a video of early road test of preproduction electric top. When the front door was opened the gutter dumped rain water in your lap. I had a c6 corvette convertible that did that and it was aggravating. I learned to live with it but always wanted to kick a designer’s butt every time it rained. Is this a problem with either the hard or soft top?

This definitely falls under the category of "it's a Jeep thing" it'll probably happen.. a lot.

From what we have seen, water coming into the cabin only happens when 1) You dont have a roof (duh!). 2) You open the door(s).

Interesting to read what the early adopters say about this.

I was checking out a JL about two weeks ago with a sales guy and my wife. It had been raining earlier, but wasn’t at the time.

Opened the driver door, stepped on the running board (added weight to the drivers side) and it dumped water on the carpet - came right from the end of the rain gutter at the front of the top - they don’t seem to extend far enough forward. That video was accurate, but the passenger side shot they had was way more extreme than what I experienced.

It is definitely a thing. Had my first experience with it over the weekend. Annoying, but not a big deal.

This happened on the JK too, right.

What did the aftermarket design in response to address this?

Matt, are you able to comment on whether this gear was "top independent," or, say, more consistent with use of the hard top only???

Thanks.
Hard top only at this point
