That's one way to look at it. Though anyone can easily avoid "your papers please" by not doing illegal stuff. Follow equipment and traffic laws and the officer has no reason to stop you. Another alternative is to walk or take public transport, and there will again be no reason to contact you. Easy peasy.
What a county? Indeed. I love it. Not many places allow you to complain about your country/state/govt and face no repercussions? Heck the USA will let you burn the very symbol of freedom (our flag) as protected by your rights. So you can use the rights of the country to protest that same county?. Man that's as free as you're gonna get. So yeah, what a country. Love it or leave it. It may not be perfect, but good luck finding somewhere better.
Thats BS too. We cant pretend corrupt cops dont exist. Ive been pulled over because my radio was "too loud"

Proceeded to show the officer my radio is broken and doesnt even turn on. "well, we heard the loud music coming from your car. Can we expect your car for drugs?"

And there are corrupt people who are not cops. You probably even elected them:CWL:... So, were there drugs in your vehicle?;)

Yeah, I have been hassled just walking before with a demand to see my driver's license. Driver's license? I am walking down the sidewalk what would you need to see that for? Then some strange request to see my cell phone. After asking if I wanted to go to jail that night I finally gave him my license which he then returned and let me go on my way.

I have nothing against the police but that was a violation of my rights.

Unless, you looked like someone they happened to be looking for. Then that's called probable cause:like:

I am a 5'10" 185 lb white male with brown hair. I look like probably a quarter or more of the population.

How would my ID and or cell phone help with the investigation?

Probable cause and disorderly conduct. Two things that pretty much allow the police to do anything they want.

Hmm, because your ID would identify you:idea: Now, the cell phone, not sure unless someone matching your description stole one.

One of my pet peeves is out of staters getting involved in local/state issues, so other than voicing my opinion on a Jeep forum (and organizing #jeepsmarchonharrisburg) I'll keep my mouth shut about it. But I would be interested if you receive a response other than a canned form letter. Jeep doors, I would guess, is a unique topic, something that doesn't have a form letter written like they do for guns/abortions/taxes pick your favorite topic. I wonder if the email person will be annoyed by such a stupid topic or be glad to finally see something different.
I’m a PA local, so this is solidly a concern of mine.

I also had the curiosity about what type of response I may generate from these letters, and I’ll be certain to share them with the group.

Hear, hear! Wife was ticketed last week for “unsafe lane change.” State trooper going like 100 (no lights or sirens) in passing lane ends up in her blind spot while she’s changing lanes to pass a slow poke. She had her signal on and was clear when she started the maneuver, but Speedy Gonzales comes up while she’s mid lane change. She sees him in time and aborts. How the hell is that her fault? How about the fact that troopers may not speed if lights and sirens are not on?

Needless to say, she plead not guilty to that. We’ll see if they make her go to court.

So, yeah, you can play by the rules and still get screwed.

If you want freedom head west, I left Pennsylvania for very similar reasons many years ago and never regret it.

Very odd, they care if you have doors off your jeep but they allow motorcycle riders to ride with no helmet. Any angle you look at from any perspective it’s hard to wrap your head around that decision. I seriously can’t even think of a far-fetched reason for someone to have made a law where no helmet is ok. So backwards. Unreal.
It's a revenue generating law. They could care less about the doors they just want to have another option to generate revenue via tickets.

And you wonder why people say "Fuck the Police"

If you ever go here: https://www.ericpetersautos.com/, you'll see the darker side of law enforcement, that they're not all the Moral Paragons we're lead to believe they are
