There’s a trend I’ve noticed here over time. Someone will post a question asking for advice. Invariably, a few will post “yes,” ”no,” or “neither” - with ZERO explanation for their answer.

To make a truly informed decision, one must be INFORMED first. I respectfully posit that if an answer doesn’t include the “why” for the answer, it’s pretty much worthless.

If you want a well thought out answer you need to both give plenty of detail in the original post as well as respond to people asking for more info.

When someone shows up and asks "Should I put 37s and skids on my Jeep" and skedaddles how is it our responsibility to come up with a good answer to a shitty post?

Simple. If it’s that shitty, don’t answer.

But seriously, if someone cant be bothered to do even a little bit of effort when trying to get an answer why shouldnt we mock them?

Because we don’t know if they even know enough to ask a question with the detail more knowledgeable people desire. That’s why truly helpful folks follow up with questions to fill in the blanks, in order to be helpful.

With that said, I too have my limit to truly outrageous questions. When I hit that limit, I usually don’t say jack - unless I’m a few brews into perusing the forum.

By the way, here’s an example of how I define truly outrageous: “If my oil temp is too high, can I put a little water in the oil to cool it down?”
