You know, its possible the guy didnt really think the seagulls would fall for the jeeps silent mode and assumed they would fly off at the last second as they tend to do. Unfortunately, he found out the 4xe really is the silent killer.

that would be my defense anyway. “Come on, who knew the stupid birds wouldnt actually hear the jeep in electric mode and would just keep standing there? Theyre too stupid for their own good your honor!”

All you gull haters clearly never read this book as a kid:
A1TAILAmouL._AC_UF1000,1000_QL80_.jpg
Nope, never read THAT book, but I can read, and have read a lot of books, how many here have read Tolstoy’s “War and Peace”, I have

Reading skills aside, what the asshat did that inspired this thread did was a first rate inexcusable Dick Move.

But I also have seen the unsanitary mess that large flocks of Seagulls (and Geese) can make, and have seen them(Both) get aggressive, and can understand why some see them as pests. Unfortunately none of that changes that they are protected, deservingly or not

We would bang on the barn, then shoot them as they flew out, “ live skeet shooting” they made a mess in it, so we made thinning them out fun. 👍

It could be height related, I’ve had 2 owls and a pheasant through big rig passenger side windshields with the pheasant making it to the back of the sleeper. Another owl squashed but didn’t come through, fortunately, it was on the driver’s side…. Or maybe just the odds in ~4.5M mi.
I got an owl 🦉 at “O Dark Thirty” one morning, whose wingspan dayum near covered the whole width of the windshield of a 385 Peterbilt, was really Surprised, and Thankful, that it wasn’t in the cab with me.
I was even more surprised that it didn’t even crack the windshield.

Another Owl I got, tore the hell out of the driver’s side mirror fairing, but fortunately the mirror itself survived.

Another day, I had a Mallard 🦆 Drake take flight ahead of me, and I heard it hit the fairing on the tractor.

I will brake for animals, IF I can do it SAFELY, I’m not going to cause an accident, over an animal, but I will make an honest attempt if I can.

Another one, the sounds of running over a Turtle 🐢, with a tractor trailer, ain’t very pleasant either, I just didn’t have a safe way to avoid him

I have no doubt that Pigeons can and do make as unsanitary a mess as Seagulls and Geese, I just didn’t think about pigeons, as I haven’t been around them as much. I spend a lot of time around the water, and the other winged varmints are more common there

Lucky the Mallard didn’t hit the glass, it would have likely been like the heavy pheasant and made a mell of a hess. :whew:

I stopped for a turtle once and carried it to the other side of the road where he was headed:angel:

@Pig-Pen defense would work for the stupid pigeons. Bang— they flew out, shoot, after a few they flew back in, Bang- repeat

I actually felt bad about that turtle, it was on WA SR 155, between Omak and Grand Coulee, it was shaded, and he wasn’t wearing a “High Viz Vest”, and kinda blended in, I can still hear that crunching sound.

Never had a bird come through a windshield, but I had a daycab toss what must have been a pretty good sized rock 🪨 into the rear window, it put a hole in the window big enough to put my fist through, never found the rock in the cab, but when that window exploded, I ducked, all I could think was”Dayum, it’s been a long time since I’ve given a Father or Husband, a reason to shoot at me 😂” if I suffered from PTSD, that probably would have given me some issues.

When I got out of the USAF in 1968 I started fishing again. I was with a friend that had an International Scout that he used to fish on the beach, he always ran with the top off in the summer, rain or shine. We had been fishing for a couple of hours and when we started toward the Scout we could see some movement on the front seat. As we got closer a Bard owl flew up and it left behind a torn apart seagull on the front passenger seat. It was quite a mess. I rode in the back seat on the way home lol. I have caught quite a few seagulls while fishing over the years, it is quite common when they are all flying and diving for baitfish. They can be hard to get off the hook. They like to bite.

Nah, weren’t KO2’s, but I knew that tractor was going to have issues when it was delivered. The battery box was between the rear frame rails, rather than a stepbox, so the “Pogo Stick” was so far aft, that I couldn’t cover the lead drive axle with the trailer.

Yep, I was right, it took out three rear windows in the 4 years I had that tractor, surprised it wasn’t more.

I swear, the people spec’ing the trucks had never driven one, Marc’s tractor had the Chain hanger on the Driver’s side, and the DEF tank on the passenger side.

I have seen exactly ONE truck stop since they started requiring DEF, that had a satellite DEF hose, every other truck stop has Only had a DEF hose on the Driver’s side. And Of Course, when pulling chains off the hanger, or putting them back on, you really Want to be on the Traffic side of the tractor, in ICY conditions 🙄
