Sure that’s what we all say, then we get older. Shovelhead went from stock to the “chopper” pic, back to first pic custom stock, new pic shows added small fairing, front fender, and big electric start battery. Of course the posted old guy street glide. And slightly illegal.....lol...Less is more!
All I can do to keep from putting it on a rigid, but I want to do a Hammer 1275 kit next winter and I can't do both.Love the Shovel.I tried to buy one in 76 but was 86 before I could afford one.I have had one ever since.Sure that’s what we all say, then we get older. That was my first Harley, sold my 52-650 Triumph and bought a new 73. Traded it in on a 91 Springer that I regretted doing, sounded like sh!t (despite exhaust and cam), Shovel would easily out run it ( S&S, Sifton solid lifter cam, extensive headwork and tuning , stock lowers) ……. It was slow but Nothing Compares to the BLATT—BLATT of the 1940 80” Flathead !? BTW— got off active duty and my first real job in October 72– bought a 73 Harley as soon as I could afford oneAll I can do to keep from putting it on a rigid, but I want to do a Hammer 1275 kit next winter and I can't do both.Love the Shovel.I tried to buy one in 76 but was 86 before I could afford one.I have had one ever since.
Pressing the throttle does nothing for startup. The ECU takes control and your input from the throttle means nothing until the ECU receives the signal that the engine is running. Thus, the reason why the starter disengages as opposed to keep on trying to start it.
As for old stuff, I like extra carbs when working on my carbs.

Did someone say float level gauge? And if you're feeling froggy, the carburetor float level can be confirmed using just a meniscus reading.
