Hello everyone,

I’m ordering a 26 Ruby to replace my 22 JLR…

are we 100% sure that it doesn’t come with the premium black twill soft top?

it comes with the old vinyl soft top with the grey roof (when inside car)?

kind of a deal breaker for me because I had an ‘18 sport s with the base soft top and it was horrid compared to my nice premium top.

can anyone absolutely confirm? I know build and price just says sunrider soft top and the dual top group lists premium soft top…but isn’t it fair to say the build and price is whack anyway?

TIA

This is going to be my 12th new car purchase since I’ve started driving, and I can tell you that, no, indeed dealership employees do not know.

They don’t sell you the car anymore, everyone knows what they want before they come in. internet and YouTube sell the car.

the sales people are there to run numbers and add options to the computer.

this is my experience although I am positive there are many knowledgeable sales men and women that know the car inside out…

but think about it when was the last time a salesmen showed you a feature on a car that you didn’t already know about?

Yes, they are. My sales guy tried to tell me that the 2025 Willys didn't come with the tow package (it does), and any time I had a question about anything, he couldn't answer and had to ask the sales manager.

Oh, and I asked him to show me 2 models, one with the Alpine system and one without so I could decide if I wanted to order that option. He struggled to find one with the system (I don't know why it was a struggle), but he eventually did. He then "showed" me the system by turning the sound up to maybe half of max. That wasn't really helpful, and he didn't even show me a model without the Alpine system so that I could compare. Needless to say, I didn't order the option.

Bottom line, salesmen are uselss these days. They don't know anything.

Edit: my sales guy would also try to answer configuration questions by using the publically available build and price tool, which we all know can be inaccurate and obviously I had already looked at the tool myself. They have an internal build tool that is much more accurate, but for some reason, he didn't use it to answer my questions. He just asked the sales manager instead.

Probably your salesperson is talking to the sales manager who is talking to the order entry person. That is a frustrating run around.

Most dealerships have a guy or gal that specifically does all the ordering for a specific set of vehicles. Usually this person was a former a senior salesman and/or finance manager. They know the vehicles and how to use the internal dealership to factory ordering tool. At my dealership, everyone is in and out of this guy's office, salespeople, sales manager, finance manager, even the general manager. My sales guy took me to this guys office, we sat down and ordered my Jeep. No screwing around. Got all the questions answered and no mistakes got made. My salesman only does this with people that have done their homework and know what they want.

Sounds to me like you are in that category. Good luck and enjoy the journey to a new Jeep!
