According to JC, mine went into paint (F) on 9/17, built on 9/18, and stayed in "optional equipment" from 9/18-9/25. Shipped on 9/27.
My jeep has been "built" and is awaiting optional equipment. .. is the very next step after that shipping ? theirs no "quality check" or final inspection or anything ?

I have the XR and half doors .. anyone experience those holding you up on the "optional equipment" phase ?

I ordered 9/4 - ish

I did not encounter another status between optional equipment and shipping, but other members have. Some were stuck in additional inspection for a week or so IIRC.

A couple of minor notes after putting ~900 miles on mine:

1) There is no keyhole on the tailgate. If you are going to order the keyhole covers, just order two for the front doors.

2) I noticed an annoying rattle between 50-70 mph and it was driving me crazy on the way home from Gupton's. It turned out to be two left over protective film sheets loosely adhering to the inside rear edge of the freedom panels. For some reason the vibration and harmonics of certain speeds cause them to crinkle and rattle. But happy to have finally solved this mystery.

I cannot believe I am seeing orders placed in Sept are actually being built and shipped already. I ordered mine Aug 19, VIN on Aug 23 and it has been in D1 since Sep 27 and still not actually in Production according to both dealer and JC! :(

Is there no proper order to how they build anything? Don't get me wrong, happy for everyone getting them as fast as possible. I am just without a Jeep since totaling mine in July, took several weeks to recuperate before I could order a new one. Just hope it gets here soon. :)

Total noob question (but I saw some other members posting about highway speeds 75-80mph) - but is there a "break-in" period with these? I remember way back in the day that when getting a new car you were supposed to keep it under 60mph for the first 500 miles or so. Is that still a thing?

The owner's manual says:

"A long break-in period is not required for the engine and drivetrain (transmission and axle) in your vehicle.

Drive moderately during the first 300 miles (500 km). After the initial 60 miles (100 km), speeds up to 50 or 55 mph (80 or 90 km/h) are desirable.

While cruising, brief full-throttle acceleration within the limits of local traffic laws contributes to a good break-in. Wide-open throttle acceleration in low gear can be detrimental and should be avoided."

When driving home, I took the back roads for the first 300 miles, which was a pain in the ...

I wonder the same thing...I ordered on 8/3 and not even close to getting it.
Today for the 4th time, I was moved back into "vehicle should be entering the build process shortly" ... :(

I have not been concerned about "break-in" in 20+ yrs. Modern engines are built with such better tolerances than they used to be. My last Jeep was a 2019 which I bought out of state. The only thing I did was not use cruise control on the 400 mile drive home. That was the 5th vehicle I bought out of state and never had any issues with any of them. Vehicle before the Jeep I sold with 198,000+ miles without a single issue. The Jeep only had 21,000 when it was totaled in July but had no issues. Just don't use cruise and drive it anyway you want, that is what I will be doing. :)

This is a can of worms…

My break in on modern vehicles is, one WOT pull when it’s fresh to seat the rings(first 50 miles, usually on the way home from the dealership), drive it gently for the first 500 miles. Make sure you vary RPMs (no chilling on the highway) first oil change at 500 miles and do the rear diff fluid at this time too. Then drive like a normal person. After ~1,500 miles, start to open it up more, change the oil at 3,000 miles and start driving like a Kia owner
