My wife and I are wanting to tour the national parks this summer. We spent a small fortune on gear and while I knew it would need addressed, I never realized how bad the rear sag would be. We are doing a trial run this weekend. This is the tent, Gobi rack, coolers and all. This isn’t safe.
I know the experts will get a laugh, but what should I do? Rubicon suspension? An Air Lift was suggested when I got the tent.
The first pic is with the RucRak loaded w/ cooler on it. The second is removing the cooler and pushing the heaviest stuff to behind the seats.
It’s still really bad.

Please help!

You are correct that this is a problem. You need a stiffer spring that is designed specifically to carry the extra weight you’ve added. OME makes springs just for this purpose, and they have the benefit of being fairly modest in the amount of lift. Most other spring upgrades are for lifts rather than carrying additional weight, and won’t adequately fix your problem. (Nor will a Rubicon suspension because that’s not designed for additional carrying capacity.)

@Reinen went with the OME kit and reported it worked well, with photos before and after. His before photo looks just like yours: https://www.jlwranglerforums.com/fo...-suspension-lift-selection.95441/post-2053986

Airbags are the way to go.
If you install stiffer springs while it will be great loaded heavy the ride will be much harsher without the added weight of the tent and gear.
Airbags will give the best of both worlds, minimal air pressure when empty and maintain the stock ride then air up to maintain ride height when loaded heavy.
I’ve installed airbags on my Jeep a few years ago and have had zero issues.

I tried airbags before the OME springs. I popped the bags somewhere along the first 5 miles of off-road trail. I would only recommend them for on-road use.

Mine have been in for at least a couple of years now and a couple dozen wheeling trips with zero issues.

Air bags are great, until they aren't. I got the aev dual sport lift and the springs are perfect for this. No sag. Get new springs made for a load
