A couple months ago I noticed that when I used the remote to lock the doors one of my taillights (LEDs) would flicker. I was under the impression that LEDs didn’t flicker, they worked or they didn’t. I should mention that there were a couple times at the beginning of summer that the Jeep had the top off and got rained on.
A month ago my passenger brake light stopped having running light functions (illumination when headlights are on) but the turn signals and brake lights still were Operational. Just to clarify, at night when didn’t down the road The brake light on the passenger side was not illuminated unless the turn signal or the brakes were applied.
I went to Jeep and they said I needed toreplace the entire assembly. List price for one turn signal assembly was over $900 (for one!) so I decided to order some aftermarket alternatives. Had them installed
On Friday and they look great and work wonderful with one small exception. Now I have the exact same problem on the other side. (Now the passenger side works perfect but there are no running lights on the drivers side signal)
I can’t figure out what the problem is or where to start looking for that matter. Anyone have any ideas?
Also, i should mention to anyone considering replacing your brake lights: my passenger aftermarket brake light was rubbed by the (aftermarket) spare tire carrier when it was opened. I used some power tools to shave down the carrier to minimize the contact but when it is fully extended it still applies some pressure.
please help if you have any idea how to get the lights to function as they should. Thanks
