I had logged on to my Jeep Wave account for my incident and they created a case number and contacted me and the dealership within 48 hrs. I’d give that a try and hopefully they will at least get you a better explanation of your situation.

I feel like manual transmission owners always get the shaft when it comes to warranty work. Somehow its always the drivers fault but you could take a blown auto trans in with 1 mile left on the warranty and boom..new transmission. Mod's of course a potentially determining factor.

I had a 2014 4runner that was in the shop for around 40 days. Had some sort of electrical issue..I did not have to pay any diagnostic fee while they tore apart all of the electronics trying to diagnose the issue. They replaced a lot of stuff over those 40 days and finally the BCM seemed to fix the issue. And it was a free rental the entire time.

You should not have to pay a dime..especially considering you have stock suspension, tires etc.

Perhaps you could show them a few threads from this forum showing the other issues people have had with their manual transmissions? A number of slave cylinder issues.

OP, did you hear a loud bang or explosion, crunchy grinding noises? Or is your clutch stuck to the floor? Maybe a pressure issue?

There was more of a pop. Loud enough to clearly hear but not super loud on the freeway. There was kind of a zippy/crunchy noise seemingly from the engine after that and no power. Was going uphill and all of a sudden RPMs kept going up until it redlined and popped.

Sounds like something broke and it ate itself .. They are going to break it down and find a lot of missing or broken teeth

Sounds like your Slave cylinder went out which can cause issues to the flywheel, pressure plate and throw out bearing.

Heard back from Jeep after they called the dealership and they say I need to pay for 9 hours at $135/hour for diagnosis because the clutch was smoking when I brought it in and the transmission has a hole in it. At first he told me the clutch isn't under warranty but I told him it is until 12k miles. He said it doesn't matter anyway because that's what the dealership requires and it's out of his hands because the dealership is independent and can do whatever they want. He said if they tow it to another dealership they'll probably do the same thing. You can imagine the arguments I made but it went nowhere.

I don't drive on rocks and I know I didn't hit anything so my guess is the hole came from the inside?

I don't know what causes a clutch to smoke but I've only been doing very normal driving and not much of it at that.

Wow, do they know what caused the hole ? Or is that the 9hours of labor for them to find out?

They said they need to tear it apart to find out. The only thing that could have caused the hole is the transmission exploding. Never once have I hit the undercarriage on anything and I've never rock crawled in my life.

Let em tear it down, if the trans broke then it will all be covered

If I believed that then I would. The transmission obviously blew up and it sounds like they will want me to pay for it since the clutch was smoking.

My question to them would be how did the clutch smoking cause the trans to blow a hole in the side ?

Sounds more likely .. the other way around

The problem is there's no one to ask. The dealership doesn't care. Jeep doesn't care.

No one and I'm sure I could talk to everybody there and it wouldn't make a difference. I talked to Jeep Customer Care and they spoke with the dealership and everybody is saying the same thing.
