has anybody attempted to build one of these things? I’m pretty sure that there’s no place on the Internet you could actually find one. My idea would be to have it about the same level as a seat and then use that passenger foot well space to build some kind of storage bin that would handle like my dogs leashes. Food, water, etc..
I did it in my old JL
and jk
But now from the new jail, I’m thinking I wanna wrap it in foam or something like that.
Any thoughts ideas, etc.

I started to type out my interpretation of what you wrote but decided not to bother since I'm 83. ;)

See kids, when English is not your first (and only language 😁), I read the post and immediately understood what the OP wants. Also, checking Ralph's profile picture helps and it becomes crystal-clear that he wants to build some kind of platform to level extend his front passenger seat.

However, checking my JLUR (I have power and leather seats), there is not much distance from the the seat to the glove box, and any "seat extension" will make my glove box hard to open. Also, hard platform will mean no more passenger seat move back/forth, but I am sure you are aware of that already...

However, Ralph, if you still want to build the platform (for your puppy's convenience), I would slide the seat as backward as it can go, take a measurement of the space between the front of your seat and the glove box, and then eye-ball the shape of that horizontal plane. The easiest way is to take a cardboard and draw the rough shape, cut and try, continue trimming it till you find the shape that works best for you... Then, transfer that shape to a plywood, cut it and verify it fits, by hand holding it. When all good, measure the height from the bottom of that board to the floor, and cut 4 legs (2x2 wood).

I would suggest to leave the board separate - not attached to the legs, so that way you can easily slip in or remove out the legs from the foot well and just drop the board on top of them when needed. If this is a more permanent - set it and forget build, then you could screw down the board to the leg(s) once the structure is assembled inside the Jeep. The vertical legs should be connected with horizontal 2x2s to form a structure, and you can use it, perhaps to add a shelf or two (thin plywood), or build a small compartment facing the door, so you have an access to those when the door is open. Or you can leave all that as an open build and you will have an extra space underneath the platform for larger items storage.
I would staple a carpet on top of the board, or glue a closed foam pad to cushion it.

Hope this design/idea can give you at least some starting point, and you can develop your own from here...

If you end up making something, please post the picture, I am curious how would that turn out.

The first concern would be the pax footwell vent. Unless you're looking for something that sits very low you'll lose some or all access to the glove box. You have to account for that lost space to see if there would be any real gain. I have a bag that slips under the rear pax seat that's been fine. It's a Bestop knock-off for half price but is exactly the same.
