For those who have the factory 392, when you flick the paddle shifters do you lose the gear indication on the center dash? I am trying to understand the behavior of a stock 392. I have the gear indicator when driving in automatic and "M" mode but when I am in automatic and trigger a paddle my gear indicator next to the D goes away.

Thanks in advance!

When in "D" the second one of the paddles is used it is in manual mode and the D goes away (is replaced by an M). Then it will only shift manually, either by the paddles or the gear lever. To go back to D the + paddle needs held for 2 seconds or the gear lever shifted from manual to D. The only time the trans shifts really fast for me by the paddles is when up shifting using a lot of throttle.

I also saw that when in auto, hold the left “-“ paddle for 2 sec and it selects the lowest possible gear available. i remember having that in a MB and they recommended it fir overtaking, max acceleration. Haven’t done it yet as still breaking in.

To get the best acceleration possibles at any speed just leave it in D and floor it.
