P2888 Park Lock/Pawl Actuator Circuit/Open - ???

Hello! My '24 4Xe just made a grinding sound when parking and then got a check engine light. Pulled the following code: P2888 Park Lock/Pawl Actuator Circuit/Open. I can't get to the dealer for several days. Is this a huge concern? New one to me. Thanks!

Ooff, hopefully it's just a solenoid issue. Is it shifting out of Park? Make sure you are using the parking brake if it is.

The parking pawl is what locks up the transmission in park.

Thanks! It is shifting out of park. I’ll definitely use the parking brake. I just heard from service advisor and he thought it could be ice on the shifting cable. Will try to get it seen Friday.

Service advisors not knowing what they’re talking about isn’t worth worrying. They don’t work on the vehicle, it’s fine.

It is a weird fault though, not good.

Yeah, it is a new one for me. Just traded in my '19 JLUR for the '24 JLUW 4xe. Never had that issue pop up on my '19. Only 275 miles too. All in all it'll be ok. Great dealer, they'll get it handled.
