A day or two after getting my '21 Rubicon 4xe back from taking it in to get the locker sensor replaced, my CEL came on with code P0E15. It would seem there is an inordinate amount of us experiencing this issue between 15k and 30k miles. Does anyone know if they are just replacing the part with the same one (I strongly suspect they are)? Does this mean I can probably expect this issue again in the next 15-30k miles? I do get a lot of all-electric miles out of my Jeep seeing as how I live in a relatively small town in AL and most of the stuff I need to do is all within 5-10 miles. Work is only 3 miles away and my kids' soccer fields are the same. Am I just putting this poor little hybrid-battery-engine cooler through too much causing it to fail? It should be more robust than that, shouldn't it? I would certainly hope so, but it is a Jeep product....so...

By the way, the local dealership here is ordering the parts and will get me serviced and up and running again hopefully next week. They even said they'd put me in a rental for the day or two it takes to repair so I'm not mad about it. These are really the only issues I've had in the 29k miles I've had it.

I just had mine replaced. Install only took half a day. The part is a new version. It’s a pretty common issue, hopefully the version fixes it. Zero issues since I have had mine fixed about 2 weeks ago.

Can confirm we are literally using the same part on all replacements across the entire hybrid fleet. It's on the 4th or 5th revision or so. Yes it will go bad again. No, we don't know how long it'll last. Hard to say if it's a software issue causing the hardware failure or just junk components.

Had a pacifica come in this week that we replaced back it in June that got about 20k miles out of it before it failed again. I've only seen a handful come back for repeat replacements overall but it definitely happens.

Thanks, I was curious about the ECH failing again. I’ll probably trade my 4xe in at the 90k miles mark lol. I wouldn’t want this outside of warranty.

We do install A LOT of hybrid coolant heaters on 4xe's and the pacifica's to be honest that is really the only common issue we see with them.
How much is this outside of warranty?

I actually did a coolant heater out of warranty on a salvage title rebuilt 4Xe and was surprised that the coolant heater was only around $400-500. (I can't remember the exact price)

I found the part for around $500 online. If I was outside of warranty I would have just done it myself. The instal doesn’t look bad at all.

here is a video of the install, vast majority of us are within warranty so I wouldn’t recommend doing it. But once I am outside of warranty and if I still have my 4xe, I will be doing this myself.
