and sadly i'm pretty sure i'm going to just sell it once its up and running. major engine issue at such low mileage is a bad combo
I understand your decision to sell it. I weighed that decision myself. However, I had just lifted it, 37s and all kinds of other mods amounting to $20k the year before. I wasn't done getting the fun out of it. So, I decided I'd do whatever I could to keep the new engine healthy. I went to higher quality and higher viscosity oil (for the cams) and premium gas to stay out of detonation which could be a cause or contributor to the head gasket problems. Keep in mind, these are 11.3:1 compression engines. A little more for gas is cheap insurance for a head gasket, IMO.

I had the same thing happen last year on my 2018 3.6 with 34,453 miles. Way out of warranty. I elected to find a new engine. I found a new engine from a 2024 JT with 160 miles. That got me a larger alternator and some spares like starter, ac compressor, hoses, and accessories. Now have a good parts collection for problems.

Currently helping to replace a member's engine that puked a cylinder and flattened a cam, at 110k. Since it had a lot of miles, we're going with a new engine as well. There's a lot of people that have had these issues.

While you're in there, replace the Oil Filter Housing with a new part number 68596318AB . You can read about it here 2014-2018 JK Oil Cooler Housing Mega Thread | Page 165 | Jeep Wrangler Forum

It’s an excuse to buy a 2 door. I will never be out.

To me, the machined slot between the cylinders looks like it wasn't part of the original design, but rather a fix to an issue. Otherwise there would be more surface area there.
