Treat those cams like a carton of eggs. They're on a nationwide backorder still I believe.

Very clean. Compare that engine to some of those posted here about cam failures and note the difference in color.

Passenger head is off. Need to clean it and put a straight edge on it to see what needs to happen next.

Send the heads to a machine shop or replace them. No sense in doing all that work to cheap out at the most technical step.

Good work on the teardown.
Just went through a similar issue on my ‘18 JL Rubicon.
Got lucky and the cams and lifter were fine. Heads were sent to a shop to be serviced.
I got so far as the valve covers and decided i didnt have enough weekends to spare to do the job myself.

There were probably about 6 absolute butthead bolts. Stellantis wasnt thinking about service when the design was finalized.

resident experts. How much play should be in the rockers. intake side in particular. i def have a tick but the exhaust side rockers all feel solid. intake side has play but looks like its part of the design.

exhaust manifold bracket. EGR bolts to the head. Bolts behind the head.

Rebuild has started. Just waiting on some new cam bolts to finish it up.
